Abstract

A plastic arch-shape cross section corrugated stormwater chamber has a multiplicity of crest corrugations and valley corrugations which run transverse to its length. Sub-corrugations run along part or all of the arch-curve lengths of either crest corrugations or valley corrugations, or along both of them. A sub-corrugations are smaller in dimension than an associated crest corrugation or valley corrugation. Sub-corrugations may taper in width and depth and may taper to nothingness. A compound convex shape end cap, useful for closing off the ends of stormwater chambers, has substantially vertical corrugations with analogous sub-corrugations.

Claims (40)

1. A chamber for drainage, comprising:

opposing side bases;

sidewalls extending from the opposing side bases;

a plurality of crest corrugations and a plurality of valley corrugations positioned along a length of the chamber; and

at least one crest sub-corrugation extending upwardly from an opposing side base and along a portion of a crest corrugation, wherein the at least one crest sub-corrugation extends upwardly about one-quarter to two-thirds of a height of the chamber.

2. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein a height of the at least one crest sub-corrugation decreases with increasing elevation from the opposing side base.

3. The chamber of claim 2 , wherein the height of the at least one crest sub-corrugation is less than a local height of the crest corrugation along which the at least one crest sub-corrugation extends.

4. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the at least one crest sub-corrugation includes a width that decreases with increasing elevation from the opposing side base.

5. The chamber of claim 1 , further comprising at least one valley sub-corrugation, wherein the at least one valley sub-corrugation extends along a valley corrugation.

6. The chamber of claim 5 , wherein the at least one valley sub-corrugation includes a first terminal end and a second terminal end each above the opposing side bases.

7. The chamber of claim 6 , wherein a height of the at least one valley sub-corrugation decreases towards each of the first terminal end and the second terminal end.

8. The chamber of claim 7 , wherein the height of the at least one valley sub-corrugation is less than a depth of the valley corrugation along which the at least one valley sub-corrugation extends.

9. The chamber of claim 6 , wherein a width of the at least one valley sub-corrugation decreases towards each of the frst terminal end and the second terminal end.

10. The chamber of claim 6 , wherein the at least one crest sub-corrugation includes a terminal end above the opposing side bases.

11. The chamber of claim 10 , wherein the terminal end of the at least one crest sub-corrugation is higher in elevation from the opposing side bases than the first and second terminal ends of the at least one valley sub-corrugation.

12. The chamber of claim 5 , wherein a width of the at least one valley sub-corrugation is constant.

13. A chamber for drainage, comprising: opposing side bases;

sidewalls extending from the opposing side bases;

a plurality of crest corrugations and a plurality of valley corrugations positioned along a length of the chamber;

a plurality of crest sub-corrugations, each crest sub-corrugation extending upwardly from an opposing side base and along a portion of a crest corrugation; and

a plurality of valley sub-corrugations, each valley sub-corrugation extending along a valley corrugation;

wherein each valley sub-corrugation includes a first terminal end and a second terminal end each being located above the opposing side bases;

wherein each crest sub-corrugation includes a terminal end above the opposing side bases; and

wherein the terminal end of each crest sub-corrugation is higher in elevation from the opposing side bases than the first and second terminal ends of the valley sub-corrugations.

14. The chamber of claim 13 , wherein a height of each crest sub-corrugation decreases towards the terminal end of the crest sub-corrugation.

15. The chamber of claim 13 , wherein a width of each crest sub-corrugation decreases towards the terminal end of the crest sub-corrugation.

16. The chamber of claim 13 , wherein a height of each valley sub-corrugation decreases towards each of the first terminal end and the second terminal end of the valley sub-corrugation.

17. The chamber of claim 13 , wherein a width of each valley sub-corrugalion decreases towards each of the first terminal end and the second terminal end of the valley sub-corrugation.

18. A chamber for drainage, comprising:

a first side base;

a second side base;

sidewalls extending from the first and second side bases;

a plurality of crest corrugations and a plurality of valley corrugations positioned along a length of the chamber, wherein each crest corrugation includes a first end at the first side base and a second end at the second side base; and

a first plurality of crest sub-corrugations, each of the first plurality of crest sub-corrugations extending upwardly from the first side base and along a portion of a crest corrugation;

wherein each of the first plurality of crest sub-corrugations includes a terminal end between the first end and the second end of the crest corrugation.

19. The chamber of claim 18 , further comprising a second plurality of crest sub-corrugations, each of the second plurality of crest sub-corrugations extending upwardly from the second side base and along a portion of a crest corrugation;

wherein each of the second plurality of crest sub-corrugations includes a terminal end between the first end and the second end of the crest corrugation.

The chamber of claim 19 , further comprising a plurality of valley sub-corrugations, wherein each valley sub-corrugation extends along a valley corrugation, each valley sub-corrugation including a first terminal end above the first side base and a second terminal end above the second side base.

21. The chamber of claim 20 , wherein the terminal end of each of the first plurality of crest sub-corrugations is higher in elevation from the first side base than the first terminal end of each valley sub-corrugation.

22. The chamber of claim 21 , wherein the terminal end of each of the second plurality of crest sub-corrugations is higher in elevation from the second side base than the second terminal end of each valley sub-corrugation.
