Abstract

A composition for providing a film on keratin fibres, the composition comprising: a film-forming aminosilicone polymer; a silicone resin; an ether of a water-soluble polyhydric alcohol; a thickening system comprising a deposition enhancer and a thickening polymer; one or more coloured materials or one or more pigments; water; 2-phenoxyethanol and/or phenylmethanol; wherein the composition is substantially free of esters of parahydroxybenzoic acid; and wherein the composition is substantially free of isothiazolinone compounds. Also, associated methods, kits and uses.

Claims (31)

(a) an aminosilicone polymer, wherein the aminosilicone polymer comprises a polydimethylsiloxane polymer having graft amino groups, wherein the aminosilicone polymer has the following formula:

wherein x′ and y′ are positive integers, such that a weight average molecular weight of the aminosilicone polymer is from 10.000 Dalton to 60.000 Dalton and the aminosilicone polymer is in a range of from about 0.1% to about 3% by total weight of the composition;

(b) an MQ silicone resin having a weight average molecular weight of from about 1,000 Dalton to about 10,000 Dalton and in a range of from about 0.1% to about 18% of the composition;

(c) an ether of a water-soluble polyhydric alcohol, wherein the ether is chosen from ethylene glycol monohexyl ether, and a mixture of diethyleneglycol monobutylether and ethylene glycol monohexyl ether in a range of from about 0.01 wt % to about 20 wt % of the composition;

(d) a thickening system in a range of from about 0.5% to about 10% by total weight of the composition, the system comprising:

a deposition enhancer present in a range of from about 0.01% to about 5% of the composition, wherein the deposition enhancer is a hydrophilic and non-ionic polymer, and wherein the deposition enhancer has a weight average molecular weight of at least about 300,000 Dalton to about 7,500,000 Dalton;

a thickening polymer in a range of from about 0.01% to about 5% by total weight of the composition, wherein the thickening polymer is a cationic thickening polymer, comprising 2-methacryloxyethyltrimethylammonium chloride (Polyquaternium-37);

(e) one or more coloured materials or one or more pigments in a range of from about 1% to about 10% of the composition and having a D 50 particle diameter in a range of from about 5 μm to about 60 μm;

(f) water;

(g) 2-phenoxyethanol and/or phenylmethanol ranging from 0.5% to 5% of the composition;

wherein the composition is free of esters of parahydroxybenzoic acid; and

wherein the composition is free of isothiazolinone compounds, wherein a pH of the composition is from about 3.0 to about 5.0.

2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises one or more coloured materials, wherein the one or more coloured materials is selected from the group consisting of: coloured fibres, coloured beads, coloured particles such as nano-particles, coloured polymers comprising covalently attached dyes, particles having diffraction properties, and combinations thereof.

3. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition has a pH, wherein the pH of the composition is from about 3 5 to about 4.5.

4. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises from about 0.5% to about 2% of the thickening system, by total weight of the composition.

5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the thickening system further comprises a hydroxyethyl cellulose.

6. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition has a viscosity of from about 50 mPa·s to about 1000 mPa·s, wherein the viscosity is measured at about 25° C.

7. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the aminosilicone polymer has a weight average molecular weight of from about 20,000 Dalton to about 40,000 Dalton.

8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the deposition enhancer conforms to the formula H(OCH 2 CH 2 ) m OH wherein n has an average value of from about 40,000 to about 50,000.

9. The composition of claim 1 , wherein MQ silicone is in a range of from about 0.1% to about 10% of the composition.

10. The composition of claim 1 , wherein MQ silicone is in a range of from about 1% to about 5% of the composition.

11. The composition of claim 1 , wherein MQ silicone is in a range of from about 2% to about 4% of the composition.

12. A kit comprising:

the composition of claim 1 ;

an applicator.

13. The composition of claim 1 , further comprising one or more radical scavengers.

14. The composition of claim 13 , wherein the one or more radical scavengers comprise an alkanolamine, an amino sugar, an amino acid, or mixtures thereof.
