Abstract

A food product includes at least one shell that contains one or more ingredients within the at least one shell. The at least one shell can be dissolved or melted into a heated liquid to release the one or more ingredients and form a heated beverage. As a particular example, multiple shells could be formed from chocolate and can contain ingredients for hot cocoa (such as cocoa mix and marshmallows). The multiple shells could be arranged in a particular pattern and decorated to form a character, such as a snowman.

a base to which the first shell is attached by a second edible bonding agent separate from the shells and the base such that the first shell is secured to the base;

wherein the shells are configured to be dissolved or melted into a heated liquid to release the one or more ingredients and the base and the edible bonding agents are configured to be dissolved or melted into the heated liquid in order to form a heated beverage, and

wherein the first shell contains a first ingredient that dissolves to form the heated beverage and the second shell contains a second ingredient that does not dissolve.

2. The food product of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the shells contain multiple ingredients.

3. The food product of Claim 1 , wherein:

the shells are formed from chocolate;

the first ingredient includes cocoa mix and the second ingredient includes marshmallows; and

the shells are configured to be dissolved or melted to form hot chocolate.

4. The food product of claim 3 , wherein:

the cocoa mix is contained within the first shell; and

attaching the shells to each other using a first edible bonding agent separate from the shells; and

attaching the first shell to a base using a second edible bonding agent separate from the shells and the base such that the first shell is secured to the base;

wherein the shells are configured to be dissolved or melted into a heated liquid to release the one or more ingredients and the base and the edible bonding agents are configured to be dissolved or melted into the heated liquid in order to form a heated beverage, and

wherein the first shell contains a first ingredient that dissolves to form the heated beverage and the second shell contains a second ingredient that does not dissolve.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein one or more of the shells contain multiple ingredients.

10. The method of Claim 8 , wherein:

the shells are formed from chocolate;

the first ingredient includes cocoa mix and the second ingredient includes marshmallows; and

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the shells and base together form a food product that resembles a snowman.

15. The method of claim 8 , wherein forming the shells and placing the one or more ingredients within the shells comprise:

forming separated portions of the shells;

placing at least one of the one or more ingredients within the separated portions of the shells; and

joining the separated portions of the shells to form the shells.

16. A method comprising:

obtaining a food product comprising (i) first and second shells that contain one or more ingredients within the shells and that are attached to each other by a first edible bonding agent separate from the shells and (ii) a base to which the first shell is attached by a second edible bonding agent separate from the shells and the base such that the first shell is secured to the base; and

dissolving or melting the shells into a heated liquid to release the one or more ingredients and dissolving or melting the base and the edible bonding agents into the heated liquid in order to form a heated beverage,

wherein the first shell contains a first ingredient that dissolves to form the heated beverage and the second shell contains a second ingredient that does not dissolve.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein one or more of the shells contain multiple ingredients.

18. The method of Claim 16 , wherein:

the shells are formed from chocolate;

the first ingredient includes cocoa mix and the second ingredient includes marshmallows; and

the heated beverage is hot chocolate.

19. The food product of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second edible bonding agents comprises chocolate.
