Abstract

A wireless communication apparatus includes a memory device storing data associated with a storage device that is external to the wireless communication apparatus, an image capturing device, a display, and a controller. The controller is configured to identify an external storage device corresponding to a code captured by the image capturing device, generate display data from the data stored in the memory device if the data stored in the memory device are associated with the identified external storage device, and control the display to generate a display image from the display data.

Claims (61)

1. A wireless communication apparatus, comprising:

a memory device in which data associated with a storage device that is external to the wireless communication apparatus are stored;

an image capturing device;

a display; and

a controller configured to:

identify an external storage device corresponding to a code captured by the image capturing device,

responsive to identification of the external storage device, generate display data from the data stored in the memory device if the data stored in the memory device are associated with the identified external storage device, and

control the display to generate a display image from the display data,

wherein the data stored in the memory device include thumbnail image data of image data stored in the external storage device, and

the display image includes one or more thumbnail images that are generated from the thumbnail image data, said one or more thumbnail images being displayed together with a display image of the code captured by the image capturing device.

2. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein

an identity of the external storage device is encoded in the code, and

the controller is configured to decode the code to determine the identity of the external storage device.

3. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein

said one or more thumbnail images are displayed adjacent to the image of the code.

4. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein

when a user makes selection of at least one of said one or more thumbnail images through a user interface presented on the display, the controller sets a priority flag for the image data stored in the external storage device that correspond to the selected thumbnail image.

5. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein

the data stored in the memory device include data indicating a remaining capacity of the external storage device.

6. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein

the memory device stores first data, which are associated with a first external storage device, and second data, which are associated with a second external storage device, and

when the image capturing device captures codes of the first and second external storage devices, the controller generates first display data from the first data and second display data from the second data, and controls the display to generate a display image from the first and second display data.

7. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a near field communication module through which the data associated with the external storage device were acquired.

8. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein

the data associated with the external storage device and stored in the memory device were transmitted from the external storage device to a server, when the external storage device was physically connected to a host computing device, and

the data associated with the external storage device and stored in the memory device were received from the server.

9. A memory card, comprising:

a housing on which a code of the memory card is displayed;

a near field communication (NFC) antenna configured to generate electromagnetic induction power based on received signals;

a first memory operable with the electromagnetic induction power;

a second memory of a nonvolatile type that is operable with power supplied from an external device to which the memory card is physically and electrically connected and is not connected to the NFC antenna to receive the electromagnetic induction power therefrom; and

a first controller operable with the electromagnetic induction power and configured to cause data stored in the first memory to be output through the NFC antenna.

10. The memory card according to claim 9 , wherein the code includes a two-dimensional matrix code and encodes an identity of the memory card.

11. The memory card according to claim 9 , wherein the second memory is inoperable using the electromagnetic induction power.

The memory card according to claim 9 , wherein the controller includes a voltage detector connected to the NFC antenna and causes the data stored in the first memory to be output through the NFC antenna in accordance with a voltage of the electromagnetic induction power detected by the voltage detector.

13. The memory card according to claim 9 , further comprising:

a second controller configured to control the second memory and is operable with the power supplied from the external device.

A wireless communication apparatus being capable of performing wireless communication with a storage device based on a Near Field Communication (NFC) standard, the storage device having a wireless antenna, a memory and a housing on which a code of the storage device is displayed, the wireless antenna generating power based on a radio wave from the wireless communication apparatus, the memory being operable by the power generated by the wireless antenna, the wireless communication apparatus comprising:

a memory device;

an image capturing device;

a display; and

a controller configured to:

acquire data from the storage device by the wireless communication based on the NFC standard;

store the acquired data in the memory device;

identify the storage device using a code captured by the image capturing device and determine if the data stored in the memory device are associated with the identified storage device,

generate display data from the data stored in the memory device if the data stored in the memory device are associated with the identified storage device, and

control the display to generate a display image from the display data.

15. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 14 , wherein

an identity of the storage device is encoded in the code, and

the controller is configured to decode the code to determine the identity of the storage device.

16. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 14 , wherein

the data stored in the memory device include thumbnail image data of image data stored in the storage device.

17. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 14 , wherein

the data stored in the memory device includes time data, and

the controller is configured to update the data stored in the memory device with the acquired data when the data stored in the memory device is older than the acquired data.

18. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 14 , wherein

the data stored in the memory device include data indicating a remaining capacity of the storage device.

19. The wireless communication apparatus according to claim 14 , wherein

the data associated with the storage device and stored in the memory device were transmitted from the storage device to a server, when the storage device was physically connected to a host computing device, and

the data associated with the storage device and stored in the memory device were received from the server.
