Hip joint device and method
A medical device for treating hip joint osteoarthritis by providing a joint surface is provided. The medical device has at least two artificial hip joint surface parts adapted to be connected to each other to form an artificial hip joint surface during an operation. A method of treating a hip joint of a human patient by providing the medical device is also provided. The method includes cutting the skin of the human patient, dissecting an area of the pelvic bone on the opposite side from the acetabulum, creating a hole in the dissected area passing through the pelvic bone and into said hip joint and providing the medical device to the hip joint, through the hole in the pelvic.
1. A medical device kit for assisting in the attachment of an artificial caput femur surface to an artificial acetabulum surface in an artificial articulating hip joint, the medical device kit comprises:
an artificial acetabulum surface comprising at least one slit allowing it to change in size and said artificial acetabulum surface being configured to clasp the artificial caput femur surface,
a first acetabulum locking member for locking the artificial acetabulum surface in a size clasping the artificial caput femur surface, wherein the first acetabulum locking member is configured to, in a first state, hold the artificial caput femur surface clasped in the artificial acetabulum surface from the outside of the acetabulum surface so as to prevent the artificial acetabulum surface from expanding, and, in a second state, release the artificial caput femur surface from the artificial acetabulum surface, and wherein the first acetabulum locking member is adapted to change from its first state to its second state when a first predetermined strain is placed on the first locking member, and
a second acetabulum locking member for locking the artificial acetabulum surface in a size clasping the artificial caput lemur surface, wherein the second acetabulum locking member is configured to, in a first state, to hold the artificial caput femur surface clasped in the artificial acetabulum surface from the outside of the artificial acetabulum surface so as to prevent the artificial acetabulum surface from expanding, and, in a second state, release the artificial caput femur surface from the artificial acetabulum surface, and wherein the second acetabulum locking member is adapted to change from its first state to its second state when a second pre-determined strain is placed on the second locking member and wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members are sized to be fitted around an artificial acetabulum surface.

The medical device kit according to claim 1 , wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members are configured to fixate the artificial caput femur surface in the artificial acetabulum surface by exerting a squeezing force on the artificial acetabulum surface and thus clamping the artificial caput femur surface.
3. The medical device kit according to claim 1 , wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members have different dimensions.
4. The medical device kit according to claim 1 , wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members are made from a combination of materials.
5. The medical device kit according to claim 1 , wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members are configured to at least partially encircle the artificial caput femur surface.
6. The medical device kit according to claim 5 , wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members are configured to completely encircle the artificial caput femur surface.
7. The medical device kit according to claim 1 , wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members are configured to at least partially encircle the artificial acetabulum surface.
8. The medical device kit according to claim 7 , wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members are configured to completely encircle the artificial acetabulum surface.
9. The medical device kit according to claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second acetabulum locking members comprises a band.
10. The medical device kit according to claim 1 , wherein the first and second locking members comprises a rupture portion configured to rupture when a pre-determined strain is placed on the rupture portion.
11. The medical device kit according the claim 1 , wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members comprises loop-shaped elements.
12. The medical device kit according to claim 11 , wherein two end portions of the loop-shaped elements are adapted to be connected in situ for creating said loop-shape for surrounding at least one of the artificial acetabulum surface and the artificial caput femur surface.
13. The medical device kit according to claim 11 , wherein the first and second acetabulum locking members each are adapted to have a first locking state, in which said loop shape has a first inner circumference, and wherein said loop shaped element is further adapted to have a second locking state, in which said loop shaped element has a second smaller inner circumference than said first inner circumference.
14. The medical device kit according to claim 13 , wherein said-loop shaped element is adapted to further have a third locking state, in which said loop shape has a third inner circumference being smaller than said first and second inner circumference.
15. The medical device kit according to claim 1 , wherein said first and second acetabulum locking members are configured to be arranged in an area of the artificial acetabulum surface extending beyond a maximum diameter of the caput femur.
16. The medical device kit according to claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second acetabulum locking member comprises a first and second engagement member, and wherein said first engagement member is adapted to engage said second engagement member, when implanted.
17. The medical device kit according to claim 16 , wherein said first and second engagement members are adapted to mechanically connect by introducing a male part of said first engagement member into a female part of said second engagement member.
