ILLUMINATED MEDICAL INFUSION WITH INLINE COMPONENTS
A medical infusion system including an illuminating infusion line, wherein the illuminating infusion line has at least one inline component, the inline component causing an interruption in a light transmission channel of the illuminating infusion line; and a first and second source of illumination residing on either side of the inline component.
1 . A medical infusion system comprising;
an illuminating infusion line, wherein the illuminating infusion line has at least one inline component, the inline component causing an interruption in a light transmission channel of the illuminating infusion line; and
a first and second source of illumination residing on either side of the inline component.
2 . The medical infusion system of claim 1 wherein the first and second sources of illumination are in wireless communication with each other.
3 . The medical infusion system of claim 2 wherein illuminating the first source of illumination causes the illumination of the second source of illumination.
4 . The medical infusion system of claim 1 wherein the inline component comprises a filter.
5 . The medical infusion system of claim 1 wherein the inline component comprises an access port.
6 . The medical infusion system of claim 1 wherein the inline component comprises a bolus port.
7 . The medical infusion system of claim 1 wherein the inline component comprises a manifold.
8 . A medical infusion system comprising;
an illuminating infusion line, wherein the illuminating infusion line has a continuous light transmission channel and a discontinuous fluid transmission channel; and
a source of illumination.
9 . The medical infusion system of claim 8 wherein the light transmission channel comprises an optical fiber.
10 . The medical infusion system of claim 8 wherein the light transmission channel comprises the structure of the fluid transmission line.
11 . The medical infusion system of claim 10 wherein the structure of the fluid transmission line comprises a photoluminescent material.
12 . The medical infusion system of claim 8 wherein the light transmission channel includes a chemiluminescent material.
13 . The medical infusion system of claim 8 wherein the light transmission channel includes an electroluminescent material.
14 . An illuminating infusion line including an integrated light transmission channel and fluid transmission channel, wherein the light transmission channel is continuous and the fluid transmission channel is discontinuous.
15 . The illuminating infusion line of claim 14 wherein the light transmission channel comprises an optical fiber.
16 . The illuminating infusion line of claim 10 wherein light transmission channel includes a photoluminescent material.
17 . The illuminating infusion line of claim 14 wherein the light transmission channel includes a chemiluminescent material.
18 . The illuminating infusion line of claim 14 wherein the light transmission channel includes an electroluminescent material.
19 . A medical infusion system comprising;
an illuminating infusion line, wherein the illuminating infusion line has at least one inline component, the inline component causing an interruption in a light transmission channel of the illuminating infusion line; and
a first and second source of illumination residing on either side of the inline component; wherein the first and second sources of illumination are synchronous.
20 . The medical infusion system of claim 19 wherein the first and second sources of illumination are coupled for wireless communications.
