Abstract

Technologies are generally described for providing wireless communications. In some examples, a method performed under control of a mobile operating server may include determining whether there is an authenticated wireless access point around a mobile device, if there is no authenticated wireless access point, determining whether there is a non-authenticated wireless access point whose capacity is over a predetermined value around the mobile device and if there is a non-authenticated wireless access point whose capacity is over the predetermined value, instructing the mobile device to connect to a wireless local area network provided by the non-authenticated wireless access point.

Claims (45)

1. A method to connect a mobile device to a network, the method comprising:

determining whether there is an authenticated Wi-Fi access point that is accessible to the mobile device through a local wireless communication protocol;

when determined that there is the authenticated Wi-Fi access point that is accessible to the mobile device through the local wireless communication protocol, instructing the mobile device to connect to a Wi-Fi network provided by the authenticated Wi-Fi access point;

when determined that there is no authenticated Wi-Fi access point that is accessible to the mobile device through the local wireless communication protocol, determining whether there is a non-authenticated Wi-Fi access point whose capacity is over a predetermined value and that is accessible to the mobile device through a local wireless communication protocol;

when determined that there is the non-authenticated Wi-Fi access point whose capacity is over the predetermined value and that is accessible to the mobile device through the local wireless communication protocol, instructing the mobile device to connect to a Wi-Fi network provided by the non-authenticated Wi-Fi access point whose capacity is over the predetermined value; and

instructing the mobile device to disable uplink transmission from the mobile device to the authenticated Wi-Fi access point or the non-authenticated Wi-Fi access point.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

instructing the mobile device to maintain downlink transmission from the authenticated Wi-Fi access point or the non-authenticated Wi-Fi access point to the mobile device.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

initiating a virtual private network (VPN) with the mobile device connected to the Wi-Fi network provided by the authenticated Wi-Fi access point or to the Wi-Fi network provided by the non-authenticated Wi-Fi access point.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

establishing a secure connection with a mobile operating server.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the establishing the secure connection comprises establishing a virtual private network (VPN) connection between the mobile device and the mobile operating server.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining whether a quality of service (QoS) of the Wi-Fi network provided by the authenticated Wi-Fi access point or of the Wi-Fi network provided by the non-authenticated Wi-Fi access point is guaranteed.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the determining whether the QOS of the Wi-Fi network provided by the authenticated Wi-Fi access point or of the Wi-Fi network provided by the non-authenticated Wi-Fi access point is guaranteed is performed based, at least in part, on at least one of:

a capacity of the Wi-Fi network provided by the authenticated Wi-Fi access point or of the Wi-Fi network provided by the non-authenticated Wi-Fi access point, and

a task to be executed in the mobile device.

8. A method to connect a mobile device to a network, the method comprising:

determining whether there is an authenticated wireless access point that is accessible to the mobile device through a local wireless communication protocol;

when determined that there is no authenticated wireless access point that is accessible to the mobile device through the local wireless communication protocol, determining whether there is a non-authenticated wireless access point whose capacity is over a predetermined value and that is accessible to the mobile device through a local wireless communication protocol; and

when determined that there is the non-authenticated wireless access point whose capacity is over the predetermined value and that is accessible to the mobile device through the local wireless communication protocol, instructing the mobile device to connect to a wireless local area network provided by the non-authenticated wireless access point whose capacity is over the predetermined value.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

initiating a virtual private network (VPN) with the mobile device connected to the wireless local area network provided by the non-authenticated wireless access point.

10. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

establishing a secure connection with a mobile operating server.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the establishing the secure connection comprises establishing a virtual private network (VPN) connection between the mobile device and the mobile operating server.

12. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

determining whether a quality of service (QoS) of the wireless local area network is guaranteed.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the determining whether the QOS of the wireless local area network is guaranteed is performed based, at least in part, on at least one of a capacity of the wireless local area network and a task to be executed in the mobile device.

14. A method to connect a mobile device to a network, the method comprising:

determining whether there is a wireless access point that is accessible to the mobile device through a local wireless communication protocol; and

when determined that there is the wireless access point that is accessible to the mobile device through the local wireless communication protocol, instructing the mobile device to connect to a wireless local area network provided by the wireless access point, to disable uplink transmission from the mobile device to the wireless access point through the wireless local area network, and to maintain downlink transmission from the wireless access point to the mobile device through the wireless local area network,

wherein the determining whether there is the wireless access point that is accessible to the mobile device through the local wireless communication protocol includes determining whether there is at least one of an authenticated wireless access point and a non-authenticated wireless access point whose capacity is over a predetermined value around the mobile device, and

wherein the instructing the mobile device to connect to the wireless local area network provided by the wireless access point includes instructing the mobile device to connect to the wireless local area network provided by the at least one of the authenticated wireless access point and the non-authenticated wireless access point whose capacity is over the predetermined value.

15. The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

initiating a virtual private network (VPN) with the mobile device connected to the wireless local area network provided by the authenticated wireless access point or the non-authenticated wireless access point.

16. The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

establishing a secure connection with a mobile operating server.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the establishing the secure connection comprises establishing a virtual private network (VPN) connection between the mobile device and the mobile operating server.

18. The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

determining whether a quality of service (QoS) of the wireless local area network is guaranteed.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the determining whether the quality of service (QoS) of the wireless local area network is guaranteed is performed based, at least in part, on at least one of a capacity of the wireless local area network and a task to be executed in the mobile device.

20. The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

when determined that there is no non-authenticated access point whose capacity is over the predetermined value and that is accessible to the mobile device through the local wireless communication protocol, instructing the mobile device to connect to a mobile telecommunications network.
