Multiview as an application for physical digital media
View Patent ↗A multi-window user interface (UI) is presented in various configurations and operational uses to leverage the relatively large display canvas afforded by large screen display devices such as 4K or 8K displays. Along with the various “Multiview” aspects, content delivery techniques, content selection techniques, and level of service techniques also are presented.
1. A method comprising:
providing content streams coming from respective content sources in an application that accesses the various content streams from respective physical media;
the application organizing the content streams from the respective content sources into respective tiles for simultaneous presentation of the content streams;
presenting the tiles simultaneously on a display;
establishing a priority of tiles such that a first tile having a first priority receives new content as a staging area before a second tile having a second priority lower than the first priority;
receiving from a mobile computing device a fling of selected content without specifying a tile; and
present the selected content in the staging area based on the display targeting the first tile based on the order of priority of the first tile.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the application is embedded in the display.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the application is embedded in a playback device.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the application is embedded in physical media.
5. An apparatus comprising:
at least one display;
at least one processor; and
at least one computer memory including instructions executable by the at least one processor for:
receiving content streams coming from respective content sources from an application that accesses the various content streams from respective physical media;
the application organizing the content streams from the respective content sources into respective tiles for simultaneous presentation of the content streams;
presenting the tiles simultaneously on the at least one display;
establishing a priority of tiles such that a first tile having a first priority receives new content as a staging area before a second tile having a second priority lower than the first priority;
receiving from a computing device a fling of selected content without specifying a tile; and
presenting the selected content in the staging area based on the display targeting the first tile based on the order of priority of the first tile.
6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the application is embedded in the at least one display.
7. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the application is embedded in a playback device.
8. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the application is embedded in physical media.
9. An apparatus comprising:
at least one computer memory including instructions executable by at least one processor to:
receive content streams coming from respective content sources from an application that accesses the various content streams from respective physical media;
