Abstract

Some embodiments provide a non-transitory machine-readable medium that stores a program executable by at least one processing unit of a first device. The program establishes a collaboration session with a second device. The program also receives, from the second device, analytics data shared through the collaboration session and contextual data associated with the analytics data. The program further provides additional data for display on the first device based on the contextual data associated with the analytics data.

Claims (42)

1. A non-transitory machine-readable medium storing a program executable by at least one processing unit of a first device, the program comprising sets of instructions for:

establishing a collaboration session with a second device;

receiving, from the second device, a representation of digital content shared through the collaboration session and contextual data associated with the digital content, the digital content comprising a first visualization of analytics data, the contextual data comprising a description of a plurality of analytics data related to the analytics data of the first visualization, wherein the digital content is displayed on the second device during the collaboration session and the contextual data is not displayed on the second device during the collaboration session;

generating the first visualization of analytics data based on the representation of the digital content shared through the collaboration session;

displaying the first visualization of analytics data on a display of the first device;

generating a second visualization of analytics data based on the contextual data associated with the digital content, the second visualization comprising a portion of the plurality of analytics data; and

displaying the second visualization of analytics data on the display of the first device in order to supplement the first visualization of analytics data shared through the collaboration session.

2. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the representation of the digital content shared through the collaboration session comprises a document object model (DOM) of the digital content.

3. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the first visualization of analytics data and the second visualization of analytics data are displayed simultaneously on the display of the first device.

4. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the first device comprises a storage configured to store preference data associated with a user of the first device, wherein the program further comprises a set of instructions for retrieving the preference data associated with the user from storage of first device, wherein the set of instructions for generating the second visualization of analytics data comprises generating the second visualization of analytics data based on the preference data associated with the user of the first device.

5. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 4 , wherein the data associated with the user of the first device comprises a location associated with the user of the first device.

6. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the contextual data further comprises a type of visualization of the first visualization of analytics data, wherein generating the second visualization of analytics data comprises generating the second visualization of analytics data having a same type of visualization as the type of visualization of the first visualization of analytics data.

7. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the description of the plurality of analytics data comprises a reference to a storage external to the first device that is storing the plurality of analytics data, wherein the program further comprises a set of instructions for retrieving the plurality of analytics data from the external storage based on the reference.

8. A method performed by a first device, the method comprising:

establishing a collaboration session with a second device;

receiving, from the second device, a representation of digital content shared through the collaboration session and contextual data associated with the digital content, the digital content comprising a first visualization of analytics data, the contextual data comprising a description of a plurality of analytics data related to the analytics data of the first visualization, wherein the digital content is displayed on the second device during the collaboration session and the contextual data is not displayed on the second device during the collaboration session;

generating the first visualization of analytics data based on the representation of the digital content shared through the collaboration session;

displaying the first visualization of analytics data on a display of the first device;

generating a second visualization of analytics data based on the contextual data associated with the digital content, the second visualization comprising a portion of the plurality of analytics data; and

displaying the second visualization of analytics data on the display of the first device in order to supplement the first visualization of analytics data shared through the collaboration session.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the representation of the digital content shared through the collaboration session comprises a document object model (DOM) of the digital content.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first visualization of analytics data and the second visualization of analytics data are displayed simultaneously on the display of the first device.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the first device comprises a storage configured to store preference data associated with a user of the first device, wherein the method further comprises retrieving the preference data associated with the user from storage of first device, wherein generating the second visualization of analytics data comprises generating the second visualization of analytics data based on the preference data associated with the user of the first device.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the data associated with the user of the first device comprises a location associated with the user of the first device.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the contextual data further comprises a type of visualization of the first visualization of analytics data, wherein generating the second visualization of analytics data comprises generating the second visualization of analytics data having a same type of visualization as the type of visualization of the first visualization of analytics data.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the description of the plurality of analytics data comprises a reference to a storage external to the first device that is storing the plurality of analytics data, wherein the method further comprises retrieving the plurality of analytics data from the external storage based on the reference.

15. A system comprising:

a display;

a set of processing units;

a memory; and

a machine-readable medium storing a program, which when executed by at least one processing unit in the set of processing units, causes the at least one processing unit to:

establish a collaboration session with a device;

receive, from the device, a representation of digital content shared through the collaboration session and contextual data associated with the digital content, the digital content comprising a first visualization of analytics data, the contextual data comprising a description of a plurality of analytics data related to the analytics data of the first visualization, wherein the digital content is displayed on the second device during the collaboration session and the contextual data is not displayed on the second device during the collaboration session;

generate the first visualization of analytics data based on the representation of the digital content shared through the collaboration session;

display the first visualization of analytics data on the display of the system;

generate a second visualization of analytics data based on the contextual data associated with the digital content, the second visualization comprising a portion of the plurality of analytics data; and

display the second visualization of analytics data on the display of the system in order to supplement the first visualization of analytics data shared through the collaboration session.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the representation of the digital content shared through the collaboration session comprises a document object model (DOM) of the digital content.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the first visualization of analytics data and the second visualization of analytics data are displayed simultaneously on the display of the system.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the system further comprises a storage configured to store preference data associated with a user of the system, wherein the program further causes the at least one processing unit to retrieve the preference data associated with the user from storage of first device, wherein generating the second visualization of analytics data comprises generating the second visualization of analytics data based on the preference data associated with the user of the system.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the data associated with the user of the system comprises a location associated with the user of the system.

20. The system of claim 15 , wherein the contextual data further comprises a type of visualization of the first visualization of analytics data, wherein generating the second visualization of analytics data comprises generating the second visualization of analytics data having a same type of visualization as the type of visualization of the first visualization of analytics data.
