Abstract

A device comprising: (a) a body portion including: (i) a first end and ii. a second end; (b) a holder at the first end; (c) a holder at the second end; (d) a rotation device at the first end in communication with the holder at the first end; and wherein the holder is fixedly attached to a split gear having a channel therethrough so that one or more flexible mediums may be placed through the channel and removed from a work area located between the holder at the first end and the holder at the second end.

Claims (46)

1. A device for creating a fashion accessory comprising:

(a) a body portion having:

(i) a first end with a first support which extends outward;

(ii) a second end with a second support which extends outward and is generally coplanar with the first support;

(iii) a work area between the first support and the second support;

(iv) a length; and

(v) a base portion to rest the device on a surface;

(b) a first holder connected to the first support;

(c) a second holder connected to the second support, wherein the first holder and the second holder are adapted to receive one or more pieces of flexible medium that extend between the first holder and the second holder to define a core of flexible medium;

(d) a rotation device at the first end and in rotatable communication with the first holder so that the rotation device rotates the first holder and the core of flexible medium to create the fashion accessory;

(e) one or more gears at the first end and located within the first support, and wherein the rotation device rotates the first holder through the one or more gears; and

wherein the device is free of a translation rod which spans from the first end to the second end to rotate the first holder and the second holder;

wherein the first holder and the second holder are connectable by the one or more pieces of flexible medium; and

wherein the body portion within the work area has a height smaller than a height of the body portion at the first end and at the second end.

2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the length of the body portion is adjustable.

3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the length of the body portion is 10 inches or more to 30 inches or less.

4. The device of claim 2 , wherein the length of the body portion is able to vary by 10% to 50%.

5. The device of claim 2 , wherein the length of the device is changeable so that the device creates tension on the one or more pieces of flexible medium spanning between a hook at the first end and a hook at the second end.

6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first holder and the second holder each include a hook.

7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first holder and the second holder are “J” shaped, “U” shaped, “C” shaped, or a combination thereof.

8. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first holder is rotatable while the second holder is fixed.

9. The device of claim 1 , wherein both the first holder and the second holder are rotatable.

10. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first holder is driven by the rotation device while the second holder is fixed or is rotated.

11. The device of claim 1 , wherein the device includes a motor which initiates the rotation device.

12. The device of claim 11 , wherein the motor includes a lever which is activatable by sliding to initiate rotation of the rotation device.

13. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first holder includes a lock which includes a piece which slides over the first holder.

14. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first holder is close-assisted and spring-loaded.

15. The device of claim 1 , wherein the body portion is rigid and made of a polymeric material.

16. The device of claim 1 , wherein the body portion is made of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), polypropylene, or a combination thereof.

17. A device for creating a fashion accessory comprising:

(a) a body portion having:

(i) a first end with a first support which extends outward;

(ii) a second end with a second support which extends outward and is generally coplanar with the first support;

(iii) a work area between the first support and the second support, wherein the body portion at the work area has a height less than a height of the body portion at the first end and at the second end;

(iv) a length which is adjustable; and

(v) a base portion to rest the device on a surface;

(b) a first holder connected to the first support;

(c) a second holder connected to the second support, wherein the first holder and the second holder are adapted to receive one or more pieces of flexible medium that extend between the first holder and the second holder to define a core of flexible medium;

(d) a rotation device at the first end and in rotatable communication with the first holder so that the rotation device rotates the first holder and the core of flexible medium to create the fashion accessory;

(e) one or more gears in the first end and located within the first support, and wherein the rotation device rotates the first holder through the one or more gears;

(f) a motor which initiates rotation of the rotation device;

wherein the device is free of a translation rod which spans from the first end to the second end to rotate the first holder and the second holder; and

wherein the first holder and the second holder are connectable by the one or more pieces of flexible medium.

18. The device of claim 17 , wherein the length of the body portion is 10 inches or more to 30 inches or less.

19. The device of claim 17 , wherein the body portion is rigid and made of a polymeric material.

20. The device of claim 17 , wherein the first holder and the second holder each include a hook.
