Abstract

A base station transmits at least one message to a wireless device. The at least one message comprises one or more configuration parameters of: a plurality of cells grouped into a plurality of groups, and a pathloss reference of a secondary cell. The base station receives uplink signals on the secondary cell. Transmission power of the uplink signals in the secondary cell is determined, at least in part, employing measurement of downlink signals of the pathloss reference of the secondary cell.

1 . A method comprising:

transmitting, by a base station, at least one message to a wireless device, the at least one message comprising one or more configuration parameters of:

a plurality of cells grouped into a plurality of groups; and

a pathloss reference of a secondary cell; and

receive uplink signals in the secondary cell, wherein transmission power of the uplink signals in the secondary cell is determined, at least in part, employing measurement of downlink signals of the pathloss reference of the secondary cell.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pathloss reference of the secondary cell in a cell group is configurable as:

a downlink carrier of the secondary cell; and

a downlink carrier of a first cell, the first cell being part of the cell group.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pathloss reference of the secondary cell of a cell group is configurable as:

a downlink carrier of the secondary cell;

a primary downlink carrier; and

a downlink carrier of a first cell, the first cell part of the cell group.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of cell groups comprise:

a first cell group comprising one or more cells of a first type; and

a second cell group comprising one or more cells of a second type.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of cell groups comprise:

a first cell group comprising one or more cells of a first frequency band; and

a second cell group comprising one or more cells of a second frequency band.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pathloss reference of the secondary cell is determined based on:

a first rule if the secondary cell is mapped to a first cell group; and

a second rule if the secondary cell is mapped to a second cell group.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of cell groups comprise:

a first cell group comprising one or more cells of a first transmission point; and

a second cell group comprising one or more cells of a second transmission point.

8 . A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the wireless device to:

receive at least one message comprising:

configuration parameters of a plurality of cells grouped into a plurality of cell groups comprising:

a first cell group comprising a first reference cell; and

a second cell group comprising a second reference cell;

a first pathloss reference of a first secondary cell in the first cell group, the first pathloss reference configurable to one of:

a downlink of the first reference cell; and

a downlink of the first secondary cell; and

a second pathloss reference of a second secondary cell in the second cell group, the second pathloss reference configurable as:

a downlink of the second reference cell; and

a downlink of the second secondary cell; and

transmit uplink signals in the second secondary cell, transmission power of the uplink signals determined, at least in part, employing measurement of downlink signals of the second pathloss reference.

9 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to transmit first uplink signals in the first secondary cell, transmission power of the first uplink signals determined, at least in part, employing measurement of downlink signals of the first pathloss reference.

10 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein:

the first pathloss reference is a first binary information element having two states; and

the second pathloss reference is a second binary information element having two states.

11 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein transmission power of the uplink signals is further determined, at least in part, employing at least one power control parameter in the at least one message.

12 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein:

the first cell group comprising one or more cells of a first type; and

the second cell group comprising one or more cells of a second type.

13 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein:

the first cell group comprises one or more cells of a first frequency band; and

the second cell group comprises one or more cells of a second frequency band.

14 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein the at least one message comprises one or more parameters:

associating the first reference cell to the first cell group; and

associating the second reference cell to the second cell group.

15 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein:

uplink transmission timing in the first cell group is derived employing the first reference cell; and

uplink transmission timing in the second cell group is derived employing the second reference cell.

16 . A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the wireless device to:

receive, from a base station, at least one message comprising one or more configuration parameters of:

a plurality of cells grouped in a plurality of groups; and

a pathloss reference of a secondary cell in at least one secondary cell group; and

transmit uplink signals in the second secondary cell, wherein transmission power of the uplink signals in the secondary cell is determined, at least in part, employing measurement of downlink signals of the pathloss reference of the secondary cell.

17 . The wireless device of claim 16 , wherein the pathloss reference of the secondary cell is determined based on:

a first rule if the secondary cell is mapped to a first cell group; and

a second rule if the secondary cell is mapped to a second cell group.
