Abstract

A battery is provided including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte layer between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. At least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode includes at least one kind of an inorganic binder that includes an oxide of at least one kind of element selected from the group including bismuth (Bi), zinc (Zn), boron (B), silicon (Si) and vanadium (V).

Claims (38)

1 . A battery comprising:

a positive electrode;

a negative electrode; and

an electrolyte layer between the positive electrode and the negative electrode,

wherein at least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode includes at least one kind of an inorganic binder that includes an oxide of at least one kind of element selected from the group including bismuth (Bi), zinc (Zn), boron (B), silicon (Si) and vanadium (V).

2 . A battery according to claim 1 , wherein the inorganic binder further includes phosphorus (P).

3 . A battery according to claim 1 , wherein the inorganic binder further includes an oxide of another element R, wherein R is an alkali metal or an alkali earth metal element.

4 . A battery according to claim 3 , wherein the alkali earth metal is selected from the group consisting of lithium (Li), sodium (Na), and potassium (K), and wherein the alkali earth metal element is selected from the group consisting of calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr) and barium (Ba).

A battery according to claim 1 , wherein the inorganic binder includes at least one material selected from the group consisting of Bi 2 O 3 —ZnO—B 2 O 3 , Bi 2 O 3 —SiO 2 —B 2 O 3 —R 2 O, Bi 2 O 3 —SiO 2 —R 2 O, ZnO—SiO 2 —B 2 O 3 —R 2 O, Bi 2 O 3 —SiO 2 —B 2 O 3 , ZnO—SiO 2 —B 2 O 3 —R 2 O—RO, ZnO—SiO 2 —B 2 O 3 —RO, ZnO—SiO 2 —B 2 O 3 and V 2 O 5 —P 2 O 5 —RO, wherein R represents an alkali metal element.

6 . A battery according to claim 1 , wherein the inorganic binder includes lithium.

7 . A battery according to claim 1 , wherein the inorganic binder is a glass ceramic containing a mixture of both an amorphous inorganic binder and a crystalline inorganic binder.

8 . A battery according to claim 1 , wherein the positive electrode includes the inorganic binder, and further includes a positive electrode active material.

9 . A battery according to claim 8 , wherein the inorganic binder has ionic conductivity or electronic conductivity that is less than a respective ionic conductivity or electronic conductivity of the positive electrode active material.

A battery according to claim 8 , wherein the positive electrode active material includes first positive electrode active material particles having a size distribution of 2 micrometers or less, and second positive electrode active material particles having a size distribution of more than 2 micrometers to 20 micrometers or less.

A battery according to claim 10 , wherein a ratio (M1/(M1+M2))*100) of a blending amount M1 of the first positive electrode active material particles to a total amount (M1+M2) of a blending amount M1 of the first positive electrode active material particles and a blending amount M2 of the second positive electrode active material particles ranges from 25% by mass to 100% by mass.

A battery according to claim 10 , wherein a ratio (M1/(M1+M2))*100) of a blending amount M1 of the first positive electrode active material particles to a total amount (M1+M2) of a blending amount M1 of the first positive electrode active material particles and a blending amount M2 of the second positive electrode active material particles ranges from 50% by mass to 100% by mass.

13 . A battery according to claim 8 , wherein a weight ratio (A:B) of the positive electrode active material A, and the binder B, is in the range of 25:75 to 99.9:0.1.

14 . A battery according to claim 8 , wherein a weight ratio (A:B) of the positive electrode active material A, and the binder B, is in the range of 25:75 to 75:25.

15 . A battery according to claim 1 , wherein the inorganic binder is sintered according to either solid phase sintering or liquid phase sintering.

16 . A battery according to claim 1 , wherein the inorganic binder is present in spaces between a positive electrode active material included in the positive electrode.

17 . A battery according to claim 1 ,

wherein the positive electrode includes positive electrode active material particles,

wherein the inorganic binder includes a binder particle powder, and

wherein the positive electrode active material particles are bonded to each other by a sintered binder particle group.

18 . A battery according to claim 1 , wherein the inorganic binder includes at least one of an amorphous inorganic binder having a glass transition point of 600 degrees C. or less and a crystalline inorganic binder capable of being sintered at 600 degrees C. or less.

19 . A battery according to claim 1 ,

wherein the electrolyte layer is a solid electrolyte layer,

wherein the positive electrode includes a positive electrode current collector and a positive electrode active material layer provided on one surface of the positive electrode current collector, and

wherein the negative electrode includes a negative electrode current collector and a negative electrode active material layer provided on one surface of the negative electrode current collector.

20 . An electronic device comprising:

a battery pack including at least one secondary battery, the secondary battery including

a positive electrode,

a negative electrode, and

an electrolyte layer between the positive electrode and the negative electrode,

wherein at least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode includes at least one kind of an inorganic binder that includes an oxide of at least one kind of element selected from the group including bismuth (Bi), zinc (Zn), boron (B), silicon (Si) and vanadium (V).

21 . An electronic device according to claim 20 , wherein the battery pack further includes a battery module including a plurality of the battery packs, and a charge discharge circuit connected to the battery module.

22 . A positive electrode comprising:

an inorganic binder that includes an oxide of at least one kind of element selected from the group including bismuth (Bi), zinc (Zn), boron (B), silicon (Si) and vanadium (V).
