Abstract

A mobile device for accessing content stored on a remote server over a mobile network includes a processor configured to direct the mobile device to send a request directing a management server to initiate a transaction.

Claims (44)

1. A mobile device located in a mobile network, comprising:

a battery;

a processor configured to:

send application data requests from an application operating on the mobile device to a first server;

enter a power save mode based on a battery level;

while in the power save mode:

alter behavior of sending application data requests from the application;

receive a message over a connection with a second server when content received at the second server is new content that is associated with a predetermined identifier, wherein the message is related to the application sending application data requests; and

establish a subsequent connection with the first server to receive data related to the new content based on receipt of the message,

wherein the second server is an intermediate server that is configured for providing connectivity between the first server and the mobile device,

wherein the power save mode is entered when an amount of battery power remaining is below a predetermined amount, and

wherein the processor is further configured to send login data to authenticate a user of the mobile device.

2. The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the login data is verified against a user database.

3. The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the message includes a portion of the content that is to be received by the mobile device.

4. The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the message includes an identification of a sender of a portion of a content that is to be received by the mobile device.

5. A mobile device located in a mobile network, comprising:

a battery;

a processor configured to allow the mobile device to:

execute in a normal operations mode and a power save mode:

while in the normal operations mode:

send application data requests from the mobile device to a first server;

enter the power save mode based on a battery level;

while in the power save mode:

alter behavior of sending application data requests from the normal operations mode;

receive a message over a connection with a second server when content received at the second server is new content that is associated with a predetermined identifier, wherein the message is related to an application sending the application data requests to the first server;

establish a subsequent connection with the first server to receive data related to the new content based on receipt of the message,

wherein the second server is an intermediate server that is configured for providing connectivity between the first server and the mobile device,

wherein the power save mode is entered when an amount of battery power remaining is below a predetermined amount; and

wherein the processor is further configured to send login data to authenticate a user of the mobile device.

6. The mobile device of claim 5 , wherein the login data is verified against a user database.

7. The mobile device of claim 5 , wherein the message notification includes a portion of the content that is to be received by the mobile device.

8. The mobile device of claim 5 , wherein the message includes an identification of a sender of a portion of a content that is to be received by the mobile device.

9. A method, comprising:

sending application data requests from an application executing on a mobile device to a first server;

entering a power save mode based on a battery level;

while in the power save mode:

altering behavior of sending application data requests from the application;

receiving a message over a connection with a second server when content received at the second server is new content that is associated with a predetermined identifier, wherein the message is related to an application sending application data requests;

establishing a subsequent connection with the first server to receive data related to the new content based on receipt of the message; and

sending login data to authenticate a user of the mobile device,

wherein the second server is an intermediate server that is configured for providing connectivity between the first server and the mobile device,

wherein entering the power save mode occurs when an amount of battery power remaining is below a predetermined amount.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the login data is verified against a user database.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the message includes a portion of the content that is to be received by the mobile device.
