Abstract

A digital picture frame including a camera integrated with the frame, and a network connection module allowing the frame for direct contact and upload of photos from electronic devices or from a user's social media account or her or his community members' social media accounts. The integrated camera is used to automatically determine an identity of a frame viewer, and a viewer profile automatically determined from the identity of the viewer. The displayed photos are automatically shown and/or changed according to the detected viewers.

Claims (21)

1. A method of displaying photos on digital picture frames each including a digital display mounted within a frame, a camera connected to the frame, and a network connection module, the method comprising:

automatically determining with a first camera an identity of a first viewer of a first digital picture frame;

detecting a first electronic device of the first viewer when in proximity to the first digital picture frame;

automatically connecting to the first electronic device of the first viewer over a network;

downloading a first digital picture frame interaction application to the first electronic device;

automatically scanning pictures of the first electronic device with the downloaded first digital picture frame interaction application;

clustering photos of the first electronic device according to content in a first plurality of clusters within the first digital picture frame interaction application;

automatically determining with a second camera an identity of a second viewer of a second digital picture frame;

detecting a second electronic device of the second viewer when in proximity to the second digital picture frame;

automatically connecting to a second electronic device of the second viewer over the network;

downloading a second digital picture frame interaction application to the second electronic device;

automatically scanning pictures of the second electronic device with the downloaded second digital picture frame interaction application;

clustering photos of the second electronic device according to content in a second plurality of clusters within the second digital picture frame interaction application;

the first digital picture frame automatically communicating with the second digital picture frame over the network, wherein the first digital picture frame communicates to the second digital picture frame that the first viewer is viewing the first digital picture frame, and the second digital picture frame communicates to the first digital picture frame that the second viewer is viewing the second digital picture frame at a same time; and

automatically displaying photos relevant to both the first viewer and the second viewer on each of the first digital picture frame and the second digital picture frame, the photos obtained from matching clusters between at least the first and second electronic devices over the network connection.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising automatically determining one of mood or health of the first viewer from imaging detected by the first camera.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising automatically commenting on the one of mood or health of the first viewer via the display of the first or second digital picture frame.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising automatically identifying preferred photos or restricted photos as a function of viewer information upon detection of the first or second viewer.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

filtering the clusters of photos as a function of quality and/or content, wherein photos of low quality or photos including predetermined people, activities and/or locations are removed from the clusters; and

tagging remaining photos in the clusters with additional metadata.
