Abstract

Some embodiments include a fantasy sports game. In some embodiments, an expected performance value may be determined. In some embodiments, a same player may appear multiple times in a team. Various other embodiments are described.

Claims (26)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a computing device over a network from a first remote device of a first player, an indication of a first fantasy team, in which the first fantasy team includes a first plurality of members that each correspond to a respective player of a sport, in which the indication of the first fantasy team identifies each of the first plurality of members;

receiving, by the computing device over the network from a statistical data source, an indication of respective statistics related to each of the corresponding players of the sport;

in response to receiving the indication of the first fantasy team, determining, by the computing device based on the respective statistics and the first fantasy team, an expected performance value for the first fantasy team by summing points that are expected to be earned by each of the first plurality of members;

transmitting, by the computing device through the network to a plurality of second remote devices of a plurality of second players, an indication of an available wager involving the first fantasy team and an indication of the expected performance value;

after transmitting the indication of the available wager, receiving, by the computing device over the network from the plurality of second remote devices, a plurality of respective entries from the plurality of second players to enter into the available wager, in which each entry identifies a respective second fantasy team, in which identifying the respective second fantasy team includes identifying each of respective players that were chosen as part of the respective second fantasy team by a respective second player;

in response to receiving the plurality of respective entries, forming, by the computing device, at least one wager involving the first fantasy team and at least one respective second fantasy team;

populating, by the computing device, an interface of at least one of the first remote device and at least one of the plurality of second remote devices with an indication of the expected performance value;

in response to forming the wager, determining, by the computing device, an outcome of the wager; and

in response to determining the outcome, transmitting, by the computing device over the network to the first remote device and the at least one of the plurality of second remote devices, an indication of a payout amount based on the outcome.

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising: providing an indication of the entries to the first player and receiving an indication of a selection of the at least one second team by the first player, in which the entries relate to a plurality of second player generated fantasy teams.

The method of claim 1 , comprising: in response to receiving the plurality of entries, determine respective payout ratios for possible wagers based on the expected performance value of the first team and respective second expected performance values of the second fantasy teams, in which the payout ratios define respective amounts that would be payable to the first player for a winning wager on the first fantasy team in a respective fantasy sports competitions involving the first fantasy team and the respective second fantasy teams.

4. The method of claim 3 , in which each entry identifies a respective second expected performance value chosen by a respective second player for a respective second team.

5. The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining the respective second expected performance values based on statistics related to the second teams.

The method of claim 1 , in which each entry identifies a respective payout ratio chosen by a respective second player, in which the payout ratios define respective amounts that would be payable to the first player for a winning wager on the first fantasy team in a respective fantasy sports competitions involving the first fantasy team and the respective second fantasy teams.

7. The method of claim 6 , comprising: determining the at least one second team based on a comparison of the respective payout ratio with the first expected performance value and a second expected performance value associated with the at least one second team.

8. The method of claim 7 , in which determining the at least one second team includes determining the at least one second team such that the comparison shows that the respective payout ratio is greater than a ratio of the first expected performance value to the second expected performance ratio.

9. The method of claim 1 , in which an amount of the wager is included in the entries.

10. The method of claim 1 , in which at least one or the second plurality of members corresponds to the same first player of the sport.

11. The method of claim 1 , in which the statistic includes a statistic related to past performance of the players in the sport.

12. The method of claim 1 , in which an expected performance value include a numerical indicator of expected performance based upon statistics of players on a team.

13. The method of claim 1 , in which the wager includes a wager that a first fantasy team will outperform a second fantasy team over a period of time.

14. The method of claim 1 , in which determining the outcome of the wager includes determining the outcome of an event wager option that is based on whether a specified event occurs in one or more games involving the players.

15. The method of claim 14 , comprising: receiving an indication of performance of the one or more players in the one or more games, determine whether the specified event occurred in the one or more games, and resolve the event wager option based on whether the event occurred.

16. The method of claim 14 , in which the event includes a particular player taking a particular action.

17. The method of claim 1 , in which transmitting the indication of the payout includes at least one or making the payment, and displaying the payment in a display.
