Abstract

Devices for generating and releasing vapor comprising a mouthpiece for providing vapor for inhalation to a user including a tubular casing containing a heater for heating a vaporizable substance at a substantially constant low temperature having means for visual indication of the operation of the device.

Claims (31)

1 . A portable device for generating an inhalable vapor from a botanical material, the device comprising:

a body;

a vaporization chamber within the body that is configured to hold a vaporizable material therein;

a heater within the body, wherein the heater is configured to heat the vaporizable material in the vaporization chamber by convection to generate an inhalable vapor;

a window through the body, wherein the window is configured to allow a user to see a glow of the heater through the window to indicate that the heater has been activated; and

one or more light-emitting diodes (LEDs) configured to indicate that the portable device is heating and ready to use.

2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the body comprises a cover configured to cover the vaporization chamber.

3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the window comprises a slot through the body.

4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the heater comprises a battery-powered electric heater.

5 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a mouthpiece and an air inlet that is configured so that when the user draws on the mouthpiece, air enters through the air inlet and mixes with the inhalable vapor and is delivered to the user via an inhalation passage through the mouthpiece.

6 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a removable mouthpiece.

7 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a control configured to allow the user to select from a variety of temperature settings.

8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more LEDs is further configured to indicate that the vaporization chamber is below operating temperature, has reached the selected operating temperature, and/or is over the selected operating temperature.

9 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a ceramic or glass material within the body for insulation to prevent thermal transfer to the body.

10 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the vaporization chamber is configured for use without a cartridge or wrapper covering the vapor-forming material.

11 . A portable device for generating an inhalable vapor from a botanical material, the device comprising:

an elongate body;

a mouthpiece having an inhalation passage;

a vaporization chamber within the body that is configured to hold a vaporizable material therein;

a heater within the body, wherein the heater is configured to heat the vaporizable material in the vaporization chamber by convection to generate an inhalable vapor;

a window through the body, wherein the window is configured to allow a user to see a glow of the heater through the window to indicate that the heater has been activated;

an air inlet, configured so that when the user draws on the device, air enters through the air inlet mixes with the inhalable vapor and is delivered to the user via the inhalation passage; and

one or more light-emitting diodes configured to indicate the heating status of the vaporization chamber.

12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the body comprises a cover configured to cover the vaporization chamber.

13 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the window comprises a slot through the body.

14 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the heater comprises a battery-powered electric heater.

15 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the mouthpiece is removable.

16 . The device of claim 11 , further comprising a control configured to allow the user to select from a variety of temperature settings.

17 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the one or more LEDs is further configured to indicate that the vaporization chamber is below operating temperature, has reached the selected operating temperature, and/or is over the selected operating temperature.

18 . The device of claim 11 , further comprising a ceramic or glass material within the body for insulation to prevent thermal transfer to the body.

19 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the vaporization chamber is configured for use without a cartridge or wrapper covering the vapor-forming material.
