Abstract

According to one embodiment, a display apparatus includes a plurality of semiconductor layers, a first insulation film, a first conductive layer, a second insulation film and a display element includes a second conductive layer. The first conductive layer and the second conductive layer are opposed to each other to form a capacitance unit.

Claims (34)

1. A display apparatus having a plurality of pixels arrayed in a matrix along a row direction and a column direction comprising:

a semiconductor layer;

a first insulation film above the semiconductor layer;

a first conductive layer on the first insulation film;

a second insulation film on the first insulation film and the first conductive layer; and

a second conductive layer on the second insulation film,

each of the plurality of pixels comprising:

a display element between a high-potential power supply and a low-potential power supply;

a drive transistor between the high-potential power supply and the display element, and configured to determine a value of current to the display element;

a pixel switch configured to select whether a video signal is input to a gate electrode of the drive transistor; and

a holding capacitance between the gate electrode of the drive transistor and a source electrode of the drive transistor; wherein

the drive transistor and the pixel switch are formed by using the semiconductor layer, and

one of electrodes of the holding capacitance and one of electrodes of the display element are formed by using the second conductive layer.

2. The display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein

the drive transistor includes the gate electrode, the source electrode, and a drain electrode,

the source electrode of the drive transistor is electrically connected to the display element,

the drain electrode of the drive transistor is electrically connected to the high-potential power supply,

the pixel switch includes a first electrode and a second electrode,

the first electrode of the pixel switch is electrically connected to a video signal line, and

the second electrode of the pixel switch is electrically connected to the gate electrode of the drive transistor.

3. The display apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:

an output switch between the high-potential power supply and the drive transistor, and configured to select whether the current from the high-potential power supply is supplied to the display element, wherein

the output switch is formed by using the semiconductor layer.

4. The display apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein

the output switch includes a first electrode and a second electrode,

the first electrode of the output switch is electrically connected to the high-potential power supply, and

the second electrode of the output switch is electrically connected to the drain electrode of the drive transistor.

5. The display apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein

the output switch is shared by adjacent two pixels of the plurality of pixels.

6. The display apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:

an auxiliary capacitance between the one of electrodes of the display element and a constant potential power supply, wherein

the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer are opposed to each other to form the auxiliary capacitance.

7. The display apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein

the constant potential power supply is one of the high-potential power supply and the low-potential power supply.
