BEVERAGE BREWING SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USING THE SAME
A beverage brewing system including one or more features for improving flavor extraction from various beverage materials.
1 . A brewing system, comprising:
a water conduit system;
a brew head coupled to the water conduit system and configured to selective receive and retain a quantity of beverage medium to be brewed by heated water delivered by the water conduit system during a brew cycle;
an inlet nozzle coupled to the brew head, in which the inlet nozzle is moved with respect to the beverage medium during the brew cycle to create a fluidized mixture of hot water and beverage medium within the brew head during the brew cycle; and
a latch, coupled to the inlet nozzle, in which a rotation of the inlet nozzle in a first direction engages the latch and a rotation of the inlet nozzle in a second direction disengages the latch.
2 . The brewing system of claim 1 , further comprising a speed controller for changing a speed of movement of the inlet nozzle.
3 . The brewing system of claim 1 , wherein the latch in the engaged position locks the brew head.
4 . The brewing system of claim 1 , wherein the latch in the disengaged position permits access to the brew head.
5 . The brewing system of claim 1 , further comprising a purge mechanism, coupled to the inlet nozzle, to purge the brewing system with air.
6 . The brewing system of claim 5 , in which the purge mechanism is coupled to the latch, such that the brewing system is purged while the latch is engaged.
7 . A method for preparing a beverage, comprising:
delivering heated water through an inlet nozzle positioned in a brew head to a quantity of beverage medium;
moving the inlet nozzle in at least one direction with respect to the beverage medium during a brew cycle;
latching the brew head via the motion of the inlet nozzle;
creating a fluidized mixture of hot water and beverage medium within the brew head during a brew cycle; and
dispensing the fluidized mixture from the brew head.
