PEN CUTTER
The present invention generally relates to pen cutters. Specifically, embodiments of the present invention relate to a pen cutter apparatus with an auto-retractable blade. Embodiments of the pen cutter apparatus are further comprised of a tether-hole and a blade slider button.
1 . A blade carrier comprising:
a blade carriage formed as a unitary component that comprises a front end formed with a blade holder, a middle section formed with a slider button attachment point and a spring attachment point, and a rear end formed with a rim, wherein said blade holder is configured to hold a cutting blade and said spring attachment point is formed between said slider button attachment point and said rim and has a smaller diameter than said rim.

The blade carrier of claim 1 , further comprising a mechanism for extending and retracting said cutting blade that comprises a spring wrapped around said spring attachment point and a slider button configured to engage with said slider button attachment point to form a blade actuation unit that is movable between at least a first position and a second position, wherein moving said blade actuation unit to said second position causes said spring to be compressed between said rim of said blade carriage and a portion of an interior wall of a body section of said pen cutter.
3 . The blade carrier of claim 2 , wherein said slider button comprises a flat button portion that is used to move said blade actuation unit and a blade carriage connection flange extending perpendicularly from the rear side of said flat button portion.
4 . The blade carrier of claim 3 , wherein said slider button attachment point is adapted to receive said blade carriage connection flange.
5 . The blade carrier of claim 2 , wherein moving said actuation unit to said second position causes said cutting blade to extend out of said body section of said pen cutter.
6 . The blade carrier of claim 1 , wherein each lateral side of said middle section of blade carriage is further formed with a blade carriage channel.
7 . The blade carrier of claim 1 , wherein said slider button attachment point is formed as a slot in the top of said middle section of said blade carriage.
8 . The blade carrier of claim 1 , wherein said blade holder is formed as a depression in said front end of said blade carriage.
9 . The blade carrier of claim 8 , wherein said depression is defined by a raised lip that borders all but one side of said depression
10 . The blade carrier of claim 1 , wherein said blade holder is formed with a knob that engages with a notch in said cutting blade.
11 . A blade carrier comprising:
a blade carriage formed as a unitary component that comprises a front end formed with a blade holder, a middle section formed with a slider button attachment point and a spring attachment point, and a rear end formed with a rim, wherein said blade holder is configured to hold a cutting blade and said spring attachment point is formed between said slider button attachment point and said rim and has a smaller diameter than said rim; and
a mechanism for extending and retracting said cutting blade that comprises a spring wrapped around said spring attachment point and a slider button configured to engage with said slider button attachment point to form a blade actuation unit that is movable between at least a first position and a second position, wherein moving said blade actuation unit to said second position causes said spring to be compressed between said rim of said blade carriage and a portion of an interior wall of a body section of said pen cutter.
12 . The blade carrier of claim 11 , wherein said slider button comprises a flat button portion that is used to move said blade actuation unit and a blade carriage connection flange extending perpendicularly from the rear side of said flat button portion.
13 . The blade carrier of claim 12 , wherein said slider button attachment point is formed as a slot in the top of said middle section of said blade carriage.
14 . The blade carrier of claim 13 , wherein said slot forming said slider button attachment point is adapted to receive said blade carriage connection flange
15 . The blade carrier of claim 11 , wherein moving said actuation unit to said second position causes said cutting blade to extend out of said body section of said pen cutter.
16 . The blade carrier of claim 11 , wherein each lateral side of said middle section of blade carriage is further formed with a blade carriage channel.
17 . The blade carrier of claim 11 , wherein said blade holder is formed as a depression in said front end of said blade carriage.
