Abstract

The present invention relates to a medicament delivery device comprising a drive means configured to act on a medicament container for expelling a medicament; a holding means configured to hold said drive means in a pre-tensioned state; an activation means configured to interact with said holding means for releasing said drive means from the pre-tensioned state; wherein the device further comprises feedback means configured to interact both with said holding means and with said drive means for generating an audible and/or tactile and/or visual signal indicating that the medicament has been completely expelled.

Claims (47)

1. An automatic feedback mechanism for a medicament delivery device that notifies a user of expulsion of medicament from a medicament container comprising,

a) a tubular extension member having a radial space defined by an inner diameter and an inner distal surface;

b) a tubular operation member engaged with the tubular extension member; and

c) a signal generating member having two longitudinally extending flexible arms and a transversal wall,

d) where the signal generating member is configured to locate the transversal wall in a first position and a second position distal of the first position,

e) where in the first position the transversal wall is a distance D from the inner distal surface of the tubular extension member, and

f) where in the second position the transversal wall hits the inner distal surface of the tubular extension member.

2. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the signal generating member generates an audible signal when the transversal wall (i) travels distally the distance D to the second position and (ii) hits the inner distal surface of the tubular extension member as the medicament is expelled.

3. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the signal generating member generates a tactile signal when the transversal wall (i) travels distally the distance D to the second position and (ii) hits the inner distal surface of the tubular extension member as the medicament is expelled.

4. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the signal generating member generates a visual signal when the transversal wall (i) travels distally the distance D to the second position and (ii) hits the inner distal surface of the tubular extension member as the medicament is expelled.

5. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the flexible arms of the signal generating member are provided with support members extending radially outward.

6. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the signal generating member comprises an elongated U-shaped bracket.

7. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the flexible arms extend in a radially outward direction to secure the signal generating member in the first position.

8. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the flexible arms in the first position have a radial extension that exceeds the radial space of the tubular extension member.

9. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the flexible arms in the second position have a radial extension that is less than the radial space of the tubular extension member.

10. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the flexible arms in the first position has a radial extension that exceeds the radial extension of the flexible arms when in the second position.

11. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 wherein

the flexible arms further comprise angled support members.

12. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 further comprising:

a hollow tubular plunger rod having an outer surface within the inner distal surface of the tubular extension member,

the hollow tubular plunger rod comprising a proximal wall configured to engage and drive a slidable stopper within a medicament container.

13. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 12 wherein the hollow tubular plunger rod comprises:

an engaging surface on an outer surface of the hollow tubular plunger rod,

wherein the automatic feedback mechanism further comprises a resilient member that projects radially inwardly to releasably engage the engaging surface of the hollow tubular plunger rod.

14. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 13 , wherein the engaging surface comprises a groove or a cut-out.

15. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 12 , further comprising

a resilient member positioned inside the hollow tubular plunger rod.

16. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 15 , wherein

the resilient member is pre-tensioned in a pre-tensioned state so as to exert a force on the proximal wall of the hollow tubular plunger rod.

17. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 1 , further comprising

a tubular housing comprising a container holder that is coaxially arranged and fixedly attaching within the tubular housing.

18. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 17 , wherein

the tubular extension member is coaxially arranged and fixedly attached to a distal end of the tubular housing.

19. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 17 , further comprising

a tubular activation member adapted to cooperate with the tubular housing,

the tubular activation member arranged to move in a proximal direction from a non-activated position to an activated position.

20. The automatic feedback mechanism of claim 19 , further comprising

a resilient member arranged at a proximal end of the tubular activation member for moving the tubular activation member in a proximal direction.
