Abstract

According to the present disclosure, a child restraint includes a juvenile seat and a child-restraint harness coupled to the juvenile seat. The juvenile seat includes a seat bottom and a seat back extending upwardly from the seat bottom. The juvenile seat further includes a cupholder coupled to the seat bottom.

Claims (17)

1. A juvenile seat comprising

a seat bottom,

a cupholder support configured to be coupled to the seat bottom, the cupholder support including a base having a floor-support wall and a side-support wall that extends upwardly away from a perimeter edge of the floor-support wall, and

a cupholder mounted on the cupholder support, the cupholder including a cup receiver having a floor coupled to the floor-support wall and a side wall arranged to abut the side-support wall and to cooperate with the floor to form a cup-receiving cavity, wherein the side wall includes a deformable portion arranged to extend away from the cupholder support and to deform from an initial shape and move relative to the floor to assume a different temporary shape and reduce a volume of the cup-receiving cavity during exposure of the deformable portion to a first force,

wherein the cupholder support further includes a base anchor configured to mate with the seat bottom to retain the cupholder support in a stationary position on the seat bottom and the base anchor is coupled to the floor-support wall and is arranged to extend downwardly away from the floor-support wall toward the seat bottom,

wherein the cup receiver is a monolithic component made of an elastic material and the base is made of a substantially rigid material that is arranged to extend around the cup receiver, and

wherein the seat bottom includes a first-armrest foundation including a central basin, a rear ridge that extends upwardly from the central basin, and a front ridge that is spaced apart from the rear ridge and arranged to extend upwardly away from the central basin and the central basin is formed to include an anchor receiver configured to receive the base anchor to couple the cupholder support to the seat bottom.

2. The juvenile seat of claim 1 , wherein the front ridge includes a curved surface arranged to face toward the rear ridge and the deformable portion of the cup receiver and the rear ridge includes a curved surface arranged to face toward the front ridge and the deformable portion of the cup receiver.

3. A juvenile seat comprising

a seat bottom formed to include an anchor-receiving slot,

a cupholder support coupled to the seat bottom, the cupholder support including a base and a fin-shaped base anchor arranged to extend downwardly into the anchor-receiving slot to mate with the seat bottom, the fin-shaped base anchor including a front fin that extends downwardly away from the base, a rear fin spaced apart from the front fin, and a center fin that extends between and interconnects the front and rear fins, and

a cupholder configured to mount on the cupholder support, the cupholder including a floor and a side wall arranged to cooperate with the floor to form a cup-receiving cavity, wherein the side wall includes a deformable portion arranged to extend away from the cupholder support and to deform from an initial shape and move relative to the floor to assume a different temporary shape and reduce a volume of the cup-receiving cavity during exposure of the deformable portion of the side wall to a first force.

4. The juvenile seat of claim 3 , wherein the cupholder support further includes an anchor retainer arranged to extend upwardly through the anchor-receiving slot into the base anchor to couple the base anchor to the seat bottom.

5. The juvenile seat of claim 3 , wherein the seat bottom is formed to include a central basin, a rear ridge that extends upwardly from the central basin, and a front ridge that is spaced apart from the rear ridge and that extends upwardly away from the central basin and front ridge, the rear ridge, and the central basin cooperate to define the anchor-receiving slot.

6. The juvenile seat of claim 3 , wherein the base includes a floor-support wall and a side-support wall that extends upwardly away from the floor-support wall and the floor-support wall and the side-support wall cooperate to form a cavity that receives a portion of the cupholder to cause an outer portion of the cupholder including the deformable portion of the side wall of the cupholder to lie outside of the cavity.

7. The juvenile seat of claim 6 , wherein the base is saddle-shaped.

8. The juvenile seat of claim 7 , wherein the side-support wall includes a front curved surface and a rear curved surface spaced apart from the front curved surface, the floor-support wall extends between the front and rear curved surfaces, the front curved surface is arranged to face toward the rear curved surface and the deformable portion of the cupholder, and the rear curved surface is arranged to face toward the front curved surface and the deformable portion of the cupholder.
