MAXIMIZING RELEVANCE OF DELIVERED DATA USING A SINGLE COMMON IDENTIFIER
System and method for displaying a data object together with its affiliate's additional object in a web page is provided. For each of a plurality of data objects, assign a unique content identifier and associate a category identifier that indicates to which one of the plurality of categories the data object belongs. An affiliate may be associated with individual data objects or an entire category of data objects. The content identifier of the data object or the category identifier of the category is associated with the affiliate. Each time one of the plurality of data objects is included in a web page, if the data object is associated with an affiliate or if the category to which the data object belongs is associated with an affiliate, then the data object is positioned in the web page together with an additional object associated with the affiliate.
1 . A system, comprising:
a first manager configured to manage a plurality of data objects, wherein each one of the plurality of data objects is assigned a unique content identifier, wherein each one of the plurality of data objects is associated with a category identifier that indicates to which one of a plurality of categories the data object belongs, and wherein each one of the plurality of categories is assigned a unique category identifier;
a second manager configured to manage a plurality of additional objects, wherein selected ones of the plurality of additional objects are associated with selected ones of a plurality of affiliates; and
a web application component configured to construct web pages in response to client requests, wherein each web page comprises at least one data object selected from the plurality of data objects, such that
if a data object is associated with an affiliate according to the content identifier assigned to the data object, then the data object is positioned in the web page together with an additional object associated with the affiliate;
if a data object is not associated with any affiliate, then
if the category to which the data object belongs is associated with an affiliate according to the category identifier associated with the data object, then the data object is positioned in the web page together with an additional object associated with the affiliate; and
if the category to which the data object belongs is not associated with any affiliate, then the data object is positioned in the web page by itself.
