Abstract

An apparatus for receiving an image is provided. The apparatus includes: a camera searcher configured to search for a camera connected to a network; a camera register configured to register information about the camera which is identified as a result of the searching by the camera searcher; a profile setter configured to set a profile of the camera by referring to the information obtained from the camera; and an image receiver configured to receive an image from the camera according to the profile.

Claims (32)

1. A method for changing a setting of a networked camera, the method comprising:

checking a usage mode for one of more cameras connected to a network;

recognizing a basic profile selected at least partially based on a number of the one or more cameras;

determining setting values for the one or more cameras based on the usage mode and the basic profile; and

transmitting a signal generated based on the setting values to the one or more cameras,

wherein if the number of the one or more cameras exceeds a predetermined number, a lowered profile is selected as the basic profile, and

wherein the lowered profile comprises the setting values that are adjusted downwardly compared to before the setting values are adjusted.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the usage mode comprises at least one of a live broadcast mode and a recording mode.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising determining that the setting values support receiving images for a live view through the network if the usage mode is the live broadcast mode and the lowered profile is selected.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the setting values comprise a resolution and a frame rate, and

wherein the method further comprises limiting the resolution and the frame rate based on the setting values for the lowered profile.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

obtaining registration information about the one or more cameras; and

determining the setting values at least partially based on whether the one or more cameras have registration information,

wherein the registration information indicates at least one of a name, a network address, resolution information, a codec, a frame rate, and a bit rate of the one or more cameras.

6. An apparatus for changing a setting of a networked camera, the apparatus comprising:

a communication interface configured to communicate with one or more cameras connected to a network to receive an image; and

a processor that is electrically connected to the communication interface and configured to:

check a usage mode for the one or more cameras;

recognize a basic profile selected at least partially based on a number of the one or more cameras;

determine setting values for the one or more cameras based on the usage mode and the basic profile; and

transmit a signal generated based on the setting values to the one or more camera via the communication interface,

wherein if the number of the one or more cameras exceeds a predetermined number, the processor is configured to recognize a lowered profile is selected as the basic profile, and

wherein the lowered profile comprises the setting values that are adjusted downwardly compared to before the setting values are adjusted.

7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the usage mode comprises at least one of a live broadcast mode and a recording mode.

8. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the processor is further configured to determine that the setting values support receiving images for a live view through the network if the usage mode is the live broadcast mode and the lowered profile is selected.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the setting values comprise a resolution and a frame rate, and

wherein the processor is further configured to limit the resolution and the frame rate based on the setting values for the lowered profile.

10. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

obtain registration information about the one or more cameras; and

determine the setting values at least partially based on whether the one or more cameras have same registration information,

wherein the registration information comprises at least one of a name, a network address, resolution information, a codec, a frame rate, and a bit rate of the one or more cameras.
