Abstract

Systems or methods for anatomy patterning a garment are provided. Anatomy patterning is any deliberate manipulation of a garment's pattern in order to change the perceived shape of a wearer of the garment toward a desired appearance. Additionally, the garments that result from use of these systems and methods for anatomy patterning are also provided.

Claims (13)

1. A method for designing a body-enhancing garment, the method comprising:

identifying a 3-D body shape;

identifying a flat pattern for a garment;

applying light to the 3-D body shape to determine a 3-D brightness gradient created by the 3-D body shape upon the application of the light;

creating a gradient 2-D image of the 3-D brightness gradient;

positioning the flat pattern over the gradient 2-D image;

adjusting the pattern to be lighter in portions positioned over lighter portions of the gradient 2-D image and darker in portions positioned over darker portions of the gradient 2-D image to form a shaded pattern that emulates the 3-D brightness gradient created by the 3-D body shape;

converting the 3-D body shape into a 2-D depth map;

positioning the shaded flat pattern on the 2-D depth map; and

warping the shaded flat pattern to emulate the dimensions of the 3-D body shape based on the positioning of the shaded flat pattern on the 2-D depth map to create an adjusted pattern; and

creating a 2-D image of the adjusted pattern utilizing perspective projection.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

applying the 2-D image of the adjusted pattern to the garment.
