Abstract

The present invention relates to new immunogenic compositions comprising conjugated Streptococcus pneumoniae capsular saccharide antigens (glycoconjugates), kits comprising said immunogenic compositions and uses thereof. Immunogenic compositions of the present invention will typically comprise at least one glycoconjugate from a S. pneumoniae serotype not found in PREVNAR®, SYNFLORIX® and/or PREVNAR 13®. The invention also relates to vaccination of human subjects, in particular infants and elderly, against pneumococcal infections using said novel immunogenic compositions.

Claims (25)

1. A kit comprising:

(a) a first immunogenic composition comprising a glycoconjugate from Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 15B, a glycoconjugate from S. pneumoniae serotype 22F, a glycoconjugate from S. pneumoniae serotype 12F, a glycoconjugate from S. pneumoniae serotype 10A, a glycoconjugate from S. pneumoniae serotype 11A and a glycoconjugate from S. pneumoniae serotype 8; and

(b) a second immunogenic composition comprising glycoconjugates from S. pneumoniae serotypes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, and 23F, for simultaneous, concurrent, concomitant or sequential administration of the first and second immunogenic compositions.

2. The kit of claim 1 , wherein said first immunogenic composition further comprises a glycoconjugate from S. pneumoniae serotype 33F, and wherein said first immunogenic composition is a 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate composition.

3. The kit of claim 1 , wherein said glycoconjugates of said first immunogenic composition are individually conjugated to CRM 197 .

4. The kit of claim 1 , wherein said first immunogenic composition further comprises at least one adjuvant.

5. The kit of claim 2 , wherein said glycoconjugates from S. pneumoniae serotypes 1, 4, 5, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, and 23F in said second immunogenic composition are individually conjugated to CRM 197 .

6. The kit of any one of claims 1 - 4 , wherein said second immunogenic composition further comprises at least one adjuvant.

7. The kit of any one of claims 1 - 4 wherein the first and second immunogenic compositions are administered simultaneously.

8. The kit of any one of claims 1 - 4 , wherein a schedule of vaccination for simultaneous administration is a multiple dose schedule.

9. The kit of claim 8 , wherein said multiple dose schedule comprises at least one dose in the first year of age followed by at least one toddler dose.

10. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the first and second immunogenic compositions are administered concomitantly.

11. The kit of claim 10 , wherein a schedule of vaccination for said concomitant administration is a multiple dose schedule.

12. The kit of claim 11 wherein said multiple dose schedule comprises at least one dose in the first year of age followed by at least one toddler dose.

13. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the first and second immunogenic compositions are administered concurrently.

14. The kit of claim 13 , wherein a schedule of vaccination for concurrent administration is a multiple dose schedule.

15. The kit of claim 14 , wherein said multiple dose schedule comprises at least one dose in the first year of age followed by at least one toddler dose.

16. The kit of claim 15 , wherein the first and second immunogenic compositions are administered concurrently.

17. The kit of claim 16 , wherein a schedule of vaccination for said sequential administration comprises a series of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 doses.

18. The kit of claim 16 , wherein a schedule of vaccination comprises the sequential administration of:

(a) the first immunogenic composition and

(b) concomitant or concurrent administration of the first immunogenic composition with the second immunogenic composition.

19. The kit of claim 16 , wherein a schedule of vaccination comprises the sequential administration of:

(a) the second immunogenic composition and

(b) concomitant or concurrent administration of the first immunogenic composition with the second immunogenic composition.
