Abstract

An information processing apparatus including a touch panel that detects a non-contact operation of an operation element by detecting an electrostatic capacitance of an operation surface of the touch panel; and a controller that determines a distance between the operation surface and the operation element based on the detected electrostatic capacitance, and controls a predetermined operation of the information processing apparatus based on the determined distance.

Claims (26)

1. An information processing apparatus, comprising:

a touch panel having an operation surface; and

circuitry configured to

cause one or a plurality of objects to be displayed on the operation surface;

detect a non-contact operation of an operation element by detecting information regarding a position of the operation element relative to the operation surface;

cause a first object among a plurality of objects to be displayed on the operation surface in a first display form different from display forms of the other objects when the non-contact operation is within a predetermined range of the operation surface;

cause the first object to be displayed in a second display form different from the first display form when the non-contact operation is not within the predetermined range of the operation surface; and

accept an additional operation of the information processing apparatus when a user performs the additional opertion while the first object is displayhed in the first display form during the non-contact operation, and not accept another operation of the information processing apparatus when the user performs the another operation while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation.

2. The information processing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first display form and the second display form are graphical representations of the first object.

3. The information processing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to receive an input corresponding to the first object when the first object is displayed in the first display form and the circuitry detects the additional operation.

4. The information processing apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the circuitry is configured to perform an operation corresponding to the first object when the input is received.

5. The information processing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured such that the first display form is an enlarged form compared to the display forms of the other objects.

6. The information processing apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the circuitry is configured such that the second display form is an un-enlarged form compared to the display forms of the other objects.

7. The information processing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured not to change a display form of the first object when the non-contact operation is not within the predetermined range of the operation surface.

8. A method performed by an information processing apparatus, the method comprising:

displaying one or a plurality of objects on an operation surface of a touch panel;

detecting a non-contact operation of an operation element by detecting information regarding a position of the operation element relative to the operation surface;

displaying a first object among a plurality of objects in a first display form different from display forms of the other objects when the non-contact operation is within a predetermined range of the operation surface;

displaying the first object in a second display form different from the first display form when the non-contact operation is not within the predetermined range of the operation surface; and

accepting an additional operation of the information processing apparatus when a user performs the additional operations while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation, and not accepting another operation of the information processing apparatus when the user performs the another operation while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation.

9. A non-transitory computer-readable medium including computer-program instructions, which when executed by an information processing apparatus, cause the information processing apparatus to:

display one or more of a plurality of objects on an operation surface of a touch panel;

detect a non-contact operation of an operation element by detecting information regarding a position of the operation element relative to the operation surface;

display a first object among a plurality of objects in a first display form different from display forms of the other objects when the non-contact operation is within a predetermined range of the operation surface;

display the first object in a second display form different from the first display form when the non-contact operation is not within the predetermined range of the operation surface; and

accept an additional operation of the information apparatus when a user performs the additional operation while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation, and not accept another operation of the information processing apparatus when the user performs the another operation while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation.
