Abstract

A method for wireless data exchange between devices in live events is presented. A method for exploring data of multiple devices in order to get information on the acoustic paths in different locations of venues is also provided. A method of exploring the microphones of sound-capturing devices of live event's audience is also presented.

Claims (16)

1. An improved sound system comprising:

a console connected wirelessly with a plurality of sound capturing devices, wherein the sound capturing devices are located in an audience area of a live event;

a receiver that requests one or more of the sound capturing devices to transmit one or more acoustic parameters and receives the one or more acoustic parameters from the sound capturing devices;

wherein the parameters depict acoustic paths between each of the respective plurality of sound capturing devices and a stage of the live event; and

the console further receiving and storing the acoustic parameters which are visually output to create acoustic maps of the audience area,

wherein the sound system is calibrated based upon at least one of the acoustic maps.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the sound capturing devices are one or more of smartphones, tablet computers, laptop or desktop computers, head-mounted or otherwise wearable computers, portable recorders, video cameras, headphones, hats, headbands, earpieces or any other type of wearable or hand-held computer.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the live event is one or more of sport event, political gathering, festival, religious ceremony, TV show, game, music event, theatre event, dance event and art performance.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the parameters are one or more of a time domain audio signal, spectrum magnitude, spectrum phase, coherence, correlation, delay, spectrogram, a frequency or time-frequency representation, stereo power balance, signal envelopes and transients, sound power or sound pressure level, loudness, peak or RMS level values, Reverberation Time (RT), Early Decay Time (EDT), Clarity (C), Definition or Deutlichkeit (D), Center of Gravity (TS), Interaural Cross Correlation (IACC), Lateral Fraction (LF/LFC), Direct to Reverberation Ratio, Speech Transmission Index (STI), Room Acoustics Speech Transmission Index (RASTI), Speech Transmission Index for Public Address Systems (STIPA), Articulation Loss of Consonants (% ALCons), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Segmental Signal to Noise Ratio, Weighted Spectral Slope (WSS), Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ), Perceptual Evaluation of Audio Quality (PEAR), Log-Likelihood Ratio (LLR), Itakura-Saito Distance, Cepstrum Distance, Signal to Distortion Index and Signal to Interference Index.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the acoustic maps are updated several times during the duration of the live event.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is implemented in a digital mixing desk.

7. The system of claim 1 , where a user manually sends requests to transmit acoustic parameters to the devices.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system emits one or more of acoustic measurement signals through one or more loudspeakers.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the calibration is performed by equalization or dynamic range compression.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein one or more of the acoustic measurement signals are captured from the devices.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the acoustic measurement signals are one or more of a linear sine sweep signal, an exponential sweep signal, random or pseudo-random noise, a Maximum Length Sequence (MLS) signal, a white noise signal, a brown noise signal, a pink noise signal, a group of sinusoids.
