Abstract

By the moving picture coding method and the moving picture decoding method, it is possible to improve coding efficiency. The moving picture coding apparatus includes a merge block candidate calculation unit that (i) specifies merge block candidates at merge mode, by using colpic information such as motion vectors and reference picture index values of neighbor blocks of a current block to be coded and a motion vector and the like of a collocated block of the current block which are stored in a colPic memory, and (ii) generates a combined merge block by using the merge block candidates.

Claims (34)

1. A system, comprising:

a moving picture coding apparatus for coding a current block of a picture; and

a moving picture decoding apparatus for decoding the current block of the picture,

wherein the moving picture coding apparatus includes:

a first generator configured to generate a plurality of candidates;

a coder configured to code the current block by using a candidate from among the plurality of candidates; and

a transmitter configured to transmit, to the moving picture decoding apparatus, the coded current block,

wherein the moving picture decoding apparatus includes:

a receiver configured to the receive, from the moving picture coding apparatus, the coded current block;

a second generator configured to generate the plurality of candidates;

a decoder configured to decode the coded current block by using the candidate from among the plurality of candidates,

wherein the plurality of candidates includes a first candidate, a second candidate and a new candidate,

wherein the first candidate has a first motion vector that has been used to code a first block and that has been used to decode the first block,

wherein the second candidate has a second motion vector that has been used to code a second block being different from the first block and that has been used to decode the second block, and

wherein the new candidate has a third motion vector and a fourth motion vector, the third motion vector being identical to the first motion vector, and the fourth motion vector being identical to the second motion vector.

2. A system, comprising:

a moving picture coding apparatus for coding a current block of a picture; and

a moving picture decoding apparatus for decoding the current block of the picture,

wherein the moving picture coding apparatus includes:

a first memory including first instructions; and

a first processor which executes the first instructions and performs:

generating a plurality of candidates;

coding the current block by using a candidate from among the plurality of candidates; and

transmitting, to the moving picture decoding apparatus, the coded current block, and

wherein the moving picture decoding apparatus includes:

a second memory including second instructions; and

a second processor which executes the second instructions and performs:

receiving, from the moving picture coding apparatus, the coded current block;

generating the plurality of candidates; and

decoding the coded current block by using the candidate from among the plurality of candidates,

wherein the plurality of candidates includes a first candidate, a second candidate and a new candidate,

wherein the first candidate has a first motion vector that has been used to code a first block and that has been used to decode the first block,

wherein the second candidate has a second motion vector that has been used to code a second block being different from the first block and that has been used to decode the second block, and

wherein the new candidate has a third motion vector and a fourth motion vector, the third motion vector being identical to the first motion vector, and the fourth motion vector being identical to the second motion vector.
