Abstract

A battery/capacitive vehicle charging system, the system comprising: at least one capacitive electrical storage unit, disposed on a charge receiving vehicle, and configured to receive a charge at a charging site and further configured to hold a charge at a first charge value; at least one battery, disposed on the charge receiving vehicle, and configured to hold a charge at a second charge value; a charge management unit configured to communicate with the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit and the at least one battery, and further configured to control the first charge value and the second charge value; wherein the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit receives a charge from the charging site wherein the charge receiving vehicle is charged.

Claims (28)

1 . A battery/capacitive vehicle charging system, the system comprising:

at least one capacitive electrical storage unit, disposed on a charge receiving vehicle, and configured to receive a charge at a charging site and further configured to hold a charge at a first charge value;

at least one battery, disposed on the charge receiving vehicle, and configured to hold a charge at a second charge value;

a charge management unit configured to communicate with the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit and the at least one battery, and further configured to control the first charge value and the second charge value;

wherein the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit receives a charge from the charging site wherein the charge receiving vehicle is charged.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the charge management unit is further configured to determine a compatibility of the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit with the charging site.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit comprises a pair of electrical plates separated by a dielectric.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the charge receiving vehicle further comprises a vehicle database comprising charging compatibility data.

5 . The system of claim 3 , wherein at least one of the pair of electrical plates of the capacitive electrical storage unit forms an exterior surface of the charge receiving vehicle.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one at least one capacitive electrical storage unit is configured to charge the at least one battery.

7 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a converter in communication with the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit.

8 . The system of claim 7 , further comprising a capacitor charging display configured to select a charging configuration of the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit.

9 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the charge receiving vehicle is configured to stop receiving a charge when the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit reaches a threshold capacitance.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the threshold capacitance is user selectable.

11 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit is configured with a surrounding safety enclosure.

12 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit is a plurality of capacitive electrical storage units.

13 . A method for battery/capacitive vehicle charging comprising:

providing a battery/capacitive charging system comprising: at least one capacitive electrical storage unit, disposed on a charge receiving vehicle, and configured to receive a charge at a charging site and further configured to hold a charge at a first charge value; at least one battery, disposed on the charge receiving vehicle, and configured to hold a charge at a second charge value; and a charge management unit configured to communicate with the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit and the at least one battery, and further configured to control the first charge value and the second charge value;

positioning the charge receiving vehicle at the charging site;

positioning the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit to receive charging from the charging site;

wherein the charge receiving vehicle controller is further configured to determine a compatibility of the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit with the charging site.

14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising determining, by a microprocessor, a compatible charging configuration between the charge receiving vehicle and the charging site to enable charging of the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit.

15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit comprises a pair of electrical plates separated by a dielectric.

16 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the charge receiving vehicle further comprises a vehicle database comprising charging compatibility data.

17 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the one at least one capacitive electrical storage unit is configured to charge the at least one battery.

18 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising a converter in communication with the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit.

19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising a capacitor charging display configured to select a charging configuration of the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the at least one capacitive electrical storage unit is configured with a surrounding safety enclosure.
