System and method for providing a bonus game on a bingo based game

1. A gaming system comprising:

a server;

a gaming machine communicatively coupled to the server, the gaming machine comprising:

at least one of a coin acceptor, a bill validator, a card reader, and a ticket reader configured to receive credit input to establish a credit balance for a player; and

a player interface configured to accept a wager against the credit balance; and

a processor programmed to:

after receiving a wager at the gaming machine, provide a bingo based game on the gaming machine, wherein the bingo based game includes gaming content that includes at least one bingo game card;

determine that a triggering event has occurred during play of the bingo based game;

based on the triggering event, award the player with at least one free bingo card in a bingo based bonus game;

determine that a second triggering event has occurred during play of the free bingo card in the bingo based bonus game;

based on the second triggering event, award the player with at least one free bonus bingo card in a second bingo based bonus game.

2. A gaming system in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to determine in response to the second triggering event a quantity of free bonus bingo cards to award to the player during the second bingo based bonus game.

3. A gaming system in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to determine in response to the second triggering event a quantity of time to provide the player with a free bonus bingo card.

4. A gaming system in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to determine in response to a second triggering event a quantity of time to play the second bingo based bonus game.

5. A gaming system in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to determine the second triggering event has occurred, wherein the second triggering event comprises achieving a pre-defined pattern on the at least one free bonus bingo game card.

6. A gaming system in accordance with claim 5 , wherein the processor is further programmed to determine the pre-defined pattern is a game ending pattern.

7. A gaming system in accordance with claim 6 , wherein determining that the second triggering event has occurred further comprises determining that a pre-defined pattern has been achieved on the at least one bingo game card.

8. A gaming system in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to determine that the second bonus bingo game includes at least two limitations of:

the quantity of time provided to award the player free bonus bingo cards during the second bonus game;

the quantity of time to award the player with the free bonus bingo card; and

the pre-defined pattern that terminates the second bingo bonus game.

9. A method for providing a bingo based bonus game, the method comprising:

receiving credit input from a player using at least one of a coin acceptor, a bill validator, a card reader, and a ticket reader to establish a credit balance;

accepting a wager against the credit balance;

providing a bingo based game to a player operating a gaming machine, wherein the bingo based game includes gaming content that includes at least one bingo game card;

determining that a triggering event has occurred during play of the bingo based game;

based on the triggering event, awarding the player with at least one free bingo card in a first bingo based bonus game;

determining that a second triggering event has occurred during play of the bingo based bonus game;

based on the second triggering event, awarding the player with at least one free bonus bingo card in a second bingo based bonus game.

10. A method in accordance with claim 9 , the method further comprising determining in response to the second triggering event a quantity of free bingo cards provided to the player during the second bingo based bonus game.

11. A method in accordance with claim 9 , the method further comprising determining in response to the second trigger event a quantity of time to provide the player with a free bonus bingo card.

12. A method in accordance with claim 9 , the method further comprising determining in response to the second triggering event a quantity of time to play the second bingo bonus game.

13. A method in accordance with claim 9 , the method further comprising determining in response to the second triggering event that a pre-defined pattern has been achieved on the at least one free bingo game card.

14. A method in accordance with claim 13 , the method further comprising determining that the pre-defined pattern is a game ending pattern.

15. A method in accordance with claim 14 , the method further comprising determining that the second triggering event has occurred further comprises determining that the pre-determined pattern has been achieved on the at least one bingo game card.

16. A method in accordance with claim 9 , wherein the second bonus bingo game includes at least two limitations of:

the quantity of time to award to the player free bonus bingo cards during the second bonus game;

the quantity of time to award the player with the free bonus bingo card; and

the pre-defined pattern that determinates the second bingo bonus game.

17. One or more tangible, non-transitory, computer storage media embodying computer-executable instructions stored thereon for providing a second bingo bonus game on a first bingo based bonus game, the instructions comprising the steps of:

receiving credit input from at least one of a coin acceptor, a bill validator, a card reader, and a ticket reader of a gaming machine to establish a credit balance;

accepting a wager against the credit balance;

providing a bingo based game to a player operating a gaming machine, wherein the bingo based game including gaming content that includes at least one bingo game card;

determining that a triggering event has occurred during play of the bingo based game;

based on the triggering event, awarding the player with at least one free bingo card in a bingo based bonus game;

determining that a second triggering event has occurred during play of the bingo based bonus game;

based on the second triggering event, awarding the payer with at least one free bonus bingo card in a second bingo based bonus game.

18. One or more computer storage media in accordance with claim 17 , wherein in response to the second triggering event a quantity of free bingo cards provided to the player is determined.

19. One or more computer storage media in accordance with claim 17 , wherein in response to the second triggering event a quantity of time to provide the player with a free bonus bingo card is determined.

20. One or more computer storage media in accordance with claim 17 , wherein in response to the second triggering event a quantity of time to play the bingo bonus game is determined.

21. One or more computer storage media in accordance with claim 17 , wherein determining that a triggering event has occurred comprises determining that a pre-defined pattern has been achieved on the at least one bingo game card.

22. One or more computer storage media in accordance with claim 17 , wherein the pre-defined pattern is a game ending pattern.

23. One or more computer storage media in accordance with claim 17 , wherein determining that a triggering event has occurred further comprises determining that a pre-defined pattern has been achieved on the at least one bingo game card.

24. One or more computer storage media in accordance with claim 17 , wherein the second bonus bingo game includes at least two limitations of:

the quantity of time to award free bonus bingo cards to award to the player during the second bonus game;

the quantity of time to award the player with the free bonus bingo card; and

the pre-defined pattern that terminates the second bingo bonus game.
