Abstract

Systems and methods for determining a centerline of a tubular structure from volumetric data of vessels where a contrast agent was injected into the blood stream to enhance the imagery for centerlining. Given a 3D array of scalar values and a first and second point, the system and methods iteratively find a path from the start position to the end position that lies in the center of a tubular structure. A user interface may be provided to visually present and manipulate a centerline of the tubular structure and the tubular structure itself.

Claims (41)

1. A method for displaying a vessel in a user interface of a computing device, comprising:

receiving medical image data that includes pixel data to provide a visualization of the vessel;

displaying a vessel finder within the user interface to receive a selection of the vessel from the medical image data and for automatically displaying a centerline of the vessel;

displaying an analysis view that provides at least one tool for analyzing the vessel, the at least one tool comprising a stenosis tool and an aneurysm tool to display characteristics of the vessel, the analysis view further comprising at least one cross section window that displays a cross section of the vessel at a location received within the analysis view;

providing a moveable slider perpendicular to, and centered along, edges of the vessel, the moveable slider being moveable along a path defined by the centerline of vessel;

receiving a selection from the moveable slider;

updating, in real-time in accordance with movement of the moveable slider, a display of the cross section of the vessel in the at least one cross section window to show the cross section at the current location of the moveable slider; and

displaying a report view of the analysis performed on the vessel.

2. The method of claim 1 , displaying the vessel finder further comprising providing a set of tools that include at least one of a bone removal tool, a cutting tool a lens tool, screenshot tool, a measuring tool, and an annotation tool to edit features of a region associated with the vessel.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying characteristics of the vessel that includes at least one of stenosis, an aneurysm, a cross-section, and a contour associated with the vessel.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a 3D image of a region of interest associated with the vessel with at least one orthogonal 2D multi-planar rendering view.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the at least one orthogonal 2D multi-planer rendering view is an axial view, a coronal view and a sagittal view.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising color coding each of plural vessels displayed in the vessel finder to differentiate among the plural vessels.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a contour of the vessel with maximum length and width indications.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising simultaneously displaying multiple locations of the vessel, wherein each location has a corresponding moveable slider and a respective cross section window where the cross section at the slider location is shown.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising color-coding the sliders and the cross section windows to differentiate among the multiple locations of the vessel.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a puck editor to refine the cross section of the vessel by pushing edges of the vessel to alter the contour of the vessel.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing an auto-aneurism tool to locate an aneurysm in the vessel and to automatically mark features of the vessel.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the features include at least one of a proximal neck, distal neck, a maximum lumen, minimum lumen, a cross sectional area of the maximum lumen, a cross sectional area of the minimum lumen, and a length of the aneurism.

13. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving an indication of a location in the user interface;

providing a view finder to display imagery that is hidden underneath a displayed layer at the location; and

providing the view finder as a window in the user interface that is offset from the location.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the view finder provides a zoom view of the location.

15. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving inputs within the user interface as touch inputs, wherein mouse hover and mouse down functionalities are received as sequential touch inputs.

16. The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

receiving a first finger touch is at a first point and a second finger touch at a second point that is offset from the first point; and

providing a local zoom finder such that the combination of the first finger touch and the second finger touch enables movement to a precise location selected by a user.

17. A method of displaying a tubular structure in a user interface of a computing device, comprising:

receiving image data that includes information about the tubular structure;

displaying a finder user interface to receive a selecting of the tubular structure and for automatically displaying a centerline of the tubular structure;

displaying an analysis view that provides a tool kit for editing and analyzing the tubular structure, and for displaying at least one cross section window that displays a cross section of the tubular structure at a location received within the analysis view;

providing a moveable slider perpendicular to, and centered along, edges of the tubular structure, the moveable slider being moveable along a path defined by the centerline of the tubular structure;

receiving a selection from the moveable slider;

updating, in real-time in accordance with movement of the moveable slider, a display of the cross section of the tubular structure in the at least one cross section window to show the cross section at the current location of the moveable slider; and

displaying a report view of the analysis performed on the tubular structure.

18. The method of claim 17 , further comprising simultaneously displaying multiple locations of the tubular structure, wherein each location has a corresponding moveable slider and a respective cross section window where the cross section at the slider location is shown.

19. The method of claim 17 , further comprising;

receiving inputs within the user interface as touch inputs;

receiving a first finger touch is at a first point and a second finger touch at a second point that is offset from the first point; and

providing a local zoom finder such that the combination of the first finger touch and the second finger touch enables movement to a precise location selected by a user.
