Abstract

A transponder-reader payment system includes a fob including a transponder, and a RFID reader for interrogating the transponder. In exemplary operation, the fob identifying information may be presented to the RFID reader for completion of a transaction request. The transaction request may be provided to a fob issuer system which retrieves a value for satisfying the transaction request from a fob associated transaction data file. The issuer system may deplete the transaction data file in accordance with the transaction request and replenish the data file in accordance with fob user or fob issuer defined reload protocol.

Claims (42)

1 . A mobile device for customer payment, comprising:

a biometric sensor that detects biometric sample data to verify scan characteristics of the biometric sample data against authenticated biometric data;

a mobile processor that, in response to the biometric sample data matching the authenticated biometric data, encrypts a user identification code using a unique device encryption key corresponding to a unique device identification code; and

an RF transponder that transmits the encrypted user identification code to an RF reader.

2 . The mobile device of claim 1 ,

wherein the biometric sample data is fingerprint sample data, and

wherein the authenticated biometric data is authenticated fingerprint data.

3 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the RF transponder is an NFC enabled device.

4 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the RF transponder is an NFC tag.

5 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the biometric sensor is a thumbprint sensor.

6 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the biometric sensor is a fingerprint sensor.

7 . The mobile device of claim 1 , wherein the mobile processor is a cryptographic processor.

8 . A method for customer payment by a mobile device, comprising:

detecting, by a biometric sensor, biometric sample data;

verifying, by an authentication circuit, scan characteristics of the biometric sample data against authenticated biometric data;

in response to the biometric sample data matching the authenticated biometric data, encrypting a user identification code, by a mobile processor, using a unique device encryption key corresponding to a unique device identification code; and

transmitting, by an RF transponder, the encrypted user identification code to an RF reader.

9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising determining a mode of the mobile device via a detection of the biometric sample data, the mode including one of a selective mode or inclusive mode.

10 . The method of claim 9 ,

wherein in response to determining that the mode is the selective mode, enabling a particular operational mode of the mobile device, and

wherein in response to determining that the mode is the inclusive mode, enabling more than one operational mode of the mobile device;

11 . The method of claim 8 ,

wherein the biometric sample data is fingerprint sample data, and

wherein the authenticated biometric data is authenticated fingerprint data.

12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the RF transponder is one of an NFC enabled device or an NFC tag.

13 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the biometric sensor is a thumbprint sensor.

14 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the biometric sensor is a fingerprint sensor.

15 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the mobile processor is a cryptographic processor.

16 . A non-transitory computer readable medium storing executable instructions that, in response to execution, cause a mobile device to perform customer payment operations, comprising:

detecting, by a biometric sensor, biometric sample data;

determining a mode of the mobile device via a detection of the biometric sample data, the mode including one of a selective mode or inclusive mode,

in response to determining that the mode is the selective mode, enabling a particular operational mode of the mobile device, and

in response to determining that the mode is the inclusive mode, enabling more than one operational mode of the mobile device;

verifying, by an authentication circuit, scan characteristics of the biometric sample data against authenticated biometric data;

in response to the biometric sample data matching the authenticated biometric data, encrypting a user identification code, by a mobile processor, using a unique device encryption key corresponding to a unique device identification code; and

transmitting, by an RF transponder, the encrypted user identification code to an RF reader.

17 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 16 ,

wherein the biometric sample data is fingerprint sample data, and

wherein the authenticated biometric data is authenticated fingerprint data.

18 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the RF transponder is one of an NFC enabled device or an NFC tag.

19 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the biometric sensor is a fingerprint sensor.

20 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the mobile processor is a cryptographic processor.
