Abstract

A roof cap assembly for a fuel cell system includes a housing, and a cover assembly disposed on the housing and configured to move between a first position and a second position. The cover assembly includes a cover including a first opening and a second opening, and a door connected to the cover and configured to selectively open and close the second opening. When the cover assembly is in the first position, the door closes the second opening, such that the reaction exhaust and the cabinet exhaust are directed through the first opening. When the cover assembly is in the second position, the door opens the second opening, such that the cabinet exhaust is directed through first opening and the reaction exhaust is directed through the second opening.

Claims (34)

1. A ventilation module for a fuel cell system module, the ventilation module comprising:

a vent housing comprising:

a first inlet configured to receive reaction exhaust from the fuel cell system module;

a second inlet to receive cabinet exhaust from the fuel cell system module;

a first flow guide disposed inside of the vent housing and configured to direct the reaction exhaust towards the top of the vent housing and direct the cabinet exhaust towards the bottom of the vent housing; and

a fan assembly guide disposed inside the vent housing; and

a fan assembly removably disposed in the vent housing and comprising:

a fan housing configured to selectively mate with the fan assembly guide; and

a fan disposed in the fan housing and configured to move the cabinet exhaust from the second inlet to the first flow guide.

2. The ventilation module of claim 1 , wherein:

the vent housing further comprises baffles disposed at the bottom of the housing, the baffles configured to guide the cabinet exhaust towards the top of the housing; and

the vent housing comprises at least one of a lower opening or a side vent disposed under the baffles and configured provide to external air into the vent housing.

3. The ventilation module of claim 1 , wherein the vent housing further comprises:

a third inlet configured to receive reaction exhaust from the fuel cell system module; and

a second flow guide disposed inside of the vent housing and configured to direct the reaction exhaust from the third inlet towards the top of the vent housing and direct the cabinet exhaust towards the bottom of the vent housing.

4. A ventilation assembly of a fuel cell system, the ventilation assembly comprising:

an inner duct comprising exhaust inlets configured to receive exhaust from fuel cell modules of the fuel cell system;

a first outer duct and a second outer duct disposed on opposing sides of the inner duct, the first and second outer ducts comprising air inlets configured to receive ambient air; and

a fan configured to apply suction to at least one of the inner duct and the first and second outer ducts,

wherein:

the ventilation assembly is disposed between first and second rows of the fuel cell modules; and

the inner duct comprises first exhaust inlets configured to receive exhaust from the first row of fuel cell modules, and second exhaust inlets configured to receive exhaust from the second row of fuel cell modules.

5. A ventilation assembly configured to receive exhaust from a fuel cell system, the ventilation assembly comprising:

an outer housing configured to receive cabinet exhaust from fuel cell modules of the fuel cell system;

an inner housing configured to receive reaction exhaust from the fuel cell modules;

at least one fan configured to selectively apply different amounts of suction to the outer and inner housings;

a first pressure sensor configured to detect the pressure inside the outer housing; and

a second pressure sensor configured to detect the pressure inside the inner housing.

6. The ventilation assembly of claim 5 , further comprising a diversion conduit fluidly connected to the inner housing and configured to supply the reaction exhaust to a heat exchanger.

7. The ventilation assembly of claim 5 , wherein the at least one fan is configured to maintain a lower pressure in the outer housing than in the inner housing.

8. The ventilation assembly of claim 5 , wherein the at least one fan comprises:

a first fan to apply suction to the outer housing; and

a second fan to apply suction to the inner housing.

9. The ventilation assembly of claim 5 , further comprising a controller configured to increase the pressure in the outer housing or decrease the pressure in the inner housing, when the pressure of the inner housing approaches the pressure of the outer housing.
