Abstract

The reliability of a display device with an input device is improved. A plurality of detection electrodes (input position detection electrodes) forming an electrostatic capacity between them and a common electrode of a display device to detect an input position are formed on a different substrate from substrates configuring the display device. Moreover, a polarizing plate and the substrate on which the plurality of detection electrodes are formed are adhesively fixed via, for example, an adhesive layer so that the plurality of detection electrodes are fixed so as to be separated apart from the display device. Thus, a distance between electrodes (the detection electrode and a driving electrode) for detecting an input position can be set separately from a thickness of the display device, and therefore, reduction in detection sensitivity (detection reliability) for the input position due to increase in the electrostatic capacity can be suppressed.

Claims (30)

1. A display device with an input device comprising:

a first substrate having a first surface;

a second substrate having a second surface so as to face the first substrate;

a plurality of pixel electrodes arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate;

a common electrode arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate;

a display functional layer arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate so that a display image is formed by applying a display voltage between the plurality of pixel electrodes and the common electrode;

a plurality of input position detection electrodes facing the common electrode via the first substrate and forming an electrostatic capacity between themselves and the common electrode to detect an input position; and

a conductor layer provided between the common electrode and the plurality of input position detection electrodes,

wherein the conductor layer suppresses malfunction due to electrostatic discharge,

wherein the electrostatic capacity for detecting the input position is formed so that the conductor layer is interposed between the plurality of input position detection electrodes and the common electrode, and

wherein the input position detection electrodes are provided in contact with the conductor layer to release electrical charge in the conductor layer.

2. The display device with the input device according to claim 1 , further comprising a third substrate having a third surface facing the first surface of the first substrate, and a fourth surface positioned on an opposite side to the third surface,

wherein each of the plurality of input position detection electrodes and the conductor layer is provided between the third substrate and the first substrate.

3. The display device with the input device according to claim 2 ,

wherein a polarizing plate is arranged between the third surface of the third substrate and the first surface of the first substrate, and

wherein each of the plurality of input position detection electrodes and the conductor layer is provided between the third substrate and the polarizing plate.

4. The display device with the input device according to claim 3 ,

wherein the plurality of input position detection electrodes are formed on the third surface of the third substrate,

wherein a first adhesive layer is provided between the plurality of input position detection electrodes formed on the third substrate and the polarizing plate, a second adhesive layer is provided between the first substrate and the polarizing plate, and

wherein the first adhesive layer has a thickness thicker than a thickness of the second adhesive layer.

5. The display device with the input device according to claim 4 ,

wherein the conductor layer is arranged between the first adhesive layer and the polarizing plate.

6. The display device with the input device according to claim 4 ,

wherein the conductor layer is arranged between the first adhesive layer and the plurality of input position detection electrodes.

7. The display device with the input device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the conductor layer is in contact with the plurality of input position detection electrodes, and is provided so as to be separated apart from the common electrode.

8. The display device with the input device according to claim 1 , wherein a sheet resistance value of the conductor layer is larger than a sheet resistance value of the plurality of input position detection electrodes.

9. The display device with the input device according to claim 1 , wherein the sheet resistance value of the conductor layer is in a range of 10 7 Ω to 10 11 Ω.

10. The display device with the input device according to claim 1 , wherein the conductor layer contains a resin material and a plurality of conductive particles mixed with the resin material.

11. The display device with the input device according to claim 1 , wherein electron charges charged in the plurality of input position detection electrodes are relaxed by the conductor layer.
