SYSTEMIC, ALLOGENIC STEM CELL THERAPIES FOR TREATMENT OF DISEASES IN ANIMALS
A method for treating preselected diseases comprising the steps of providing a therapeutic dose of a mesenchymal stem cell composition, the mesenchymal stem cell composition comprising mesenchymal stem cells harvested from at least one tissue selected from the group consisting of placental tissue, bone marrow, dental tissue, testicle tissue, and dermal tissue; and systemically administering the mesenchymal stem cell composition to the patient suffering from a preselected disease or diseased state through an intravenous injection.

16 . A method for treating a patient in need of treatment for chronic renal failure, comprising the step of administering a therapeutic dose of a mesenchymal stem cell composition to a patient in need of treatment for chronic renal failure through an intravenous injection, the mesenchymal stem cell composition comprising mesenchymal stem cells harvested from placental tissue, bone marrow, dental tissue, testicle tissue, uterine tissue, umbilical cord tissue, or skin tissue.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the therapeutic dose is about 6 million mesenchymal stem cells per kg of the patient's body weight.
18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the therapeutic dose is from about 6 million mesenchymal stem cells per kg of the patient's body weight up to a maximum of about 50 million mesenchymal stem cells regardless of the patient's body weight.
19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the patient is selected from the group consisting of human, canine, feline, equine, or lagomorph.
20 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cells are allogeneic or autologous to the patient.
21 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cell composition consists essentially of mesenchymal stem cells and saline.
22 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cell composition includes mesenchymal stem cells and saline at a concentration of no more than 500,000 cells per ml.
23 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cell composition includes mesenchymal stem cells and saline at a concentration of no more than 100,000 cells per ml.
24 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cell composition further comprises factors from a stem cell conditioned media.
25 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cells are harvested from placental tissue.
26 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cells are harvested from dental tissue.
27 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cells are harvested from testicle tissue.
28 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cells are harvested from uterine tissue.
29 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cells are harvested from umbilical cord tissue.
30 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the mesenchymal stem cells are harvested from skin tissue.
31 . The method of claim 16 , wherein greater than 90% of the cells of the composition express CD90 and CD205 and less than 5% of the cells of the composition express CD34, CD45 and MHC class II.
32 . A method for treating a patient in need of treatment for chronic renal failure, comprising:
thawing a cryopreserved mesenchymal stem cell composition, the mesenchymal stem cell composition comprising mesenchymal stem cells, wherein the mesenchymal stem cells are allogeneic or autologous to the target patient and are harvested from placental tissue, bone marrow, dental tissue, testicle tissue, uterine tissue, umbilical cord tissue, or skin tissue;
diluting the mesenchymal stem cell composition to form a diluted mesenchymal stem cell composition having a concentration of 2,000,000 mesenchymal stem cells or less per mL of solution; and
administering a therapeutic dose of the diluted mesenchymal stem cell composition through an intravenous injection to a patient in need of treatment for chronic renal failure.
33 . The method of claim 32 , wherein said diluted mesenchymal stem cell composition has a concentration of no more than 500,000 mesenchymal stem cells per ml of solution.
34 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the therapeutic dose comprises a total of about six million to about fifty million mesenchymal stem cells.
35 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the therapeutic dose comprises about 6 million mesenchymal stem cells per kilogram of the patient's body weight.
36 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the patient is selected from the group consisting of human, canine, feline, equine, or lagomorph.
