Abstract

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for processing a payment request. A server may receive a request to transmit a message generated on a payor's mobile device to a second user's mobile device, where the request includes a message including a payload and an identifier for the second user. The payload may not include any information or identifiers associated with the second user. The server may transmit the message and payload from the payor's mobile device to the second user's mobile device.

Claims (71)

1 . A computer-readable storage medium of a server storing instructions that, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to perform a method comprising:

generating, on a user interface of a mobile device associated with a user:

a first screen portion configured to display received and sent messages in an instant messaging service application and configured to receive a command to transmit a message to a message service server from the mobile device in the instant messaging application;

a second screen portion configured to access a third-party application;

receiving, via the user interface, an inputted payment amount in the second screen portion;

transmitting, to a payment service system via the third-party application, a payment request comprising the inputted payment amount and an identification of the user, wherein the payment request does not identify a recipient;

receiving, by the mobile device, the payload generated by the third-party application, wherein the payload comprises a hyperlink containing a token string and an image based upon the inputted payment amount of a payment request;

populating, in the first screen portion of the user interface, a message to the recipient in the first screen portion, wherein the message comprises the payload and the payload does not comprise an identifier of the recipient of the message; and

transmitting, to the message service server via the instant messaging service application, the message to a mobile device associated with the recipient.

2 . The computer-readable storage medium according to the claim 1 , wherein at least one of the image based upon the inputted payment amount and the text instructions is generated and transmitted by the mobile device to the third-party application.

3 . The computer-readable storage medium according to the claim 2 , further comprising:

generating, by the mobile device, an image based upon the inputted payment amount; and

upon receiving the payload generated by the third party application, adding by the mobile device, the generated image to the payload.

4 . The computer-readable storage medium according to claim 3 , further comprising receiving, by the mobile device, a selection of the image from a plurality of images.

5 . The computer-readable storage medium according to the claim 2 , further comprising:

generating, by the mobile device, one or more text instructions for the payment request; and

receiving, by the mobile device, an instruction to use a text instruction from the generated one or more text instructions for the payload.

6 . The computer-readable storage medium according to claim 5 , further comprising receiving, by the mobile device, a selection of the text instructions from a plurality of text instructions.

7 . A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to perform a method comprising:

generating, by a mobile device associated with a user, a user interface on the mobile device, the user interface comprising:

a first screen portion configured to display received and sent messages in an instant messaging service application and configured to receive a command to transmit a message to a message service server from the mobile device in the instant messaging service application;

a second screen portion configured to access a third-party application and configured to populate a new message with a payload;

receiving, by the mobile device, an inputted payment amount in the second screen portion;

transmitting, by the mobile device to a payment service system via the third-party application, a request comprising the inputted payment amount and an identification of the user, and wherein the request does not identify a recipient;

receiving, by the mobile device, the payload comprising a hyperlink containing a token string;

populating, by the mobile device, a message to the recipient in the first screen portion, wherein the message comprises the payload and the payload does not comprise an identifier of the recipient of the message; and

transmitting, by the mobile device to the message service server via the instant messaging service application, the message to a mobile device associated with the recipient.

8 . The computer-readable storage medium according to the claim 7 , wherein receiving an inputted payment amount in the second screen portion comprises receiving a selection from a list of amounts.

9 . The computer-readable storage medium according to the claim 7 , wherein the payload comprises at least one of an image and text instructions for the payment request.

10 . The computer-readable storage medium according to the claim 7 , wherein the image depicts an amount based upon the inputted payment amount.

11 . The computer-readable storage medium according to the claim 7 , further comprising:

generating, by the mobile device, a second image for the payload; and

transmitting, by the mobile device to the message service server via the instant messaging service application, the message to the mobile device associated with the recipient wherein the message further comprises the second image.

12 . The computer-readable storage medium according to the claim 7 , wherein the instant messaging service application is native to an operating system of the mobile device.

13 . The computer-readable storage medium according to the claim 7 , wherein the user interface further comprises a third portion configured to display an option to load the third-party application.

14 . A computer-implemented method for processing a payment request, the method comprising:

generating, by a mobile device associated with a user, a user interface on the mobile device, the user interface comprising:

a first screen portion configured to display received and sent messages in an instant messaging service application and configured to receive a command to transmit a message to a message service server from the mobile device in the instant messaging service application;

a second screen portion configured to access a third-party application and configured to populate a new message with a payload;

receiving, by the mobile device, an inputted payment amount in the second screen portion;

transmitting, by the mobile device to a payment service system via the third-party application, a request comprising the inputted payment amount and an identification of the user, and wherein the request does not identify a recipient;

receiving, by the mobile device, the payload comprising a hyperlink containing a token string;

populating, by the mobile device, a message to the recipient in the first screen portion, wherein the message comprises the payload and the payload does not comprise an identifier of the recipient of the message; and

transmitting, by the mobile device to the message service server via the instant messaging service application, the message to a mobile device associated with the recipient.

15 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 14 , wherein receiving an inputted payment amount in the second screen portion comprises receiving a selection from a list of amounts.

16 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 14 , wherein the payload comprises at least one of an image and text instructions for the payment request.

17 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 16 , wherein the image depicts an amount based upon the inputted payment amount.

18 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 14 , further comprising:

generating, by the mobile device, a second image for the payload; and

transmitting, by the mobile device to the message service server via the instant messaging service application, the message to the mobile device associated with the recipient wherein the message further comprises the second image.

19 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 14 , wherein the instant messaging service application is native to an operating system of the mobile device.

20 . The computer-implemented method according to claim 14 , wherein the user interface further comprises a third portion configured to provide the user an option to load the third-party application.

21 . A system for processing a payment request from a client mobile device comprising:

a mobile device, comprising a memory, and a processor, configured to:

generate a user interface on the mobile device, the user interface comprising:

a first screen portion configured to display received and sent messages in an instant messaging service application and configured to receive a command to transmit a message to a message service server from the mobile device in the instant messaging service application;

a second screen portion configured to access a third-party application and configured to populate a new message with a payload;

receiving, by the mobile device, an inputted payment amount in the second screen portion;

transmit, to a payment service system via the third-party application, a request comprising the inputted payment amount and an identification of the user, and wherein the request does not identify a recipient;

receive the payload comprising a hyperlink containing a token string;

populate a message to the recipient in the first screen portion comprising the payload, wherein the message comprises the payload and the payload does not comprise an identifier of the recipient of the message; and

transmit, to the message service server via the instant messaging service application, the message to a mobile device associated the recipient.

22 . The system according to claim 21 , wherein the payload comprises at least one of an image and text instructions for the payment request.

23 . The system according to claim 22 , wherein the image depicts an amount based upon the inputted payment amount of the message.

24 . The system according to claim 21 , wherein the mobile device is further configured to:

generate a second image for the payload; and

transmit, to the message service server via the instant messaging service application, the message to a mobile device associated with the recipient wherein the message further comprises the second image.

25 . The system according to claim 21 , wherein the user interface further comprises a third portion configured to provide the user an option to load the third-party application.

28 . The system according to claim 21 , wherein the mobile device is further configured to:

generate an image based upon the inputted payment amount; and

add the generated image to the payload.
