Abstract

In one aspect, a first device includes a processor and a memory accessible to the processor. The memory bears instructions executable by the processor to determine at least one of whether the first device is facilitating a telephonic communication with a second device at least in part using a speaker phone feature, and that plural individuals are within a proximity to the first device during the telephonic communication. The instructions are also executable to transmit to the second device data pertaining to at least one of the use of the speaker phone feature and the existence of plural individuals.

Claims (44)

1. A first device, comprising:

a processor;

a display accessible to the processor; and

storage accessible to the processor and bearing instructions executable by the processor to:

engage in a telephonic communication with a second device different from the first device;

process audio data of the telephonic communication to determine whether the second device is using a speaker phone function;

in response to a determination that the second device is using the speaker phone function, provide a notification at the first device that the second device is using the speaker phone function to at least partially conduct the telephonic communication; and

present a user interface (UI) on the display at which an option is selectable to enable presentation of data at the first device regarding use of a speaker phone by another device while communicating with the first device.

2. The first device of claim 1 , further comprising at least one speaker, and wherein the notification is provided at least in part using the at least one speaker to provide tones in a particular tone pattern.

3. The first device of claim 1 , wherein presentation of data regarding use of a speaker phone by another device while communicating with the first device comprises presentation of notifications regarding use of a speaker phone by another device while communicating with the first device.

4. The first device of claim 1 , further comprising at least one speaker, and wherein the notification is provided at least in part using the at least one speaker to provide a voice notification.

5. The first device of claim 1 , wherein the notification is provided at least in part by providing a text message at the first device using the display.

6. The first device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions are executable to:

approximate a number of people within a proximity to the second device and provide in the notification an approximation of the number of people within the proximity to the second device, wherein the number of people is approximated at least in part using a social network service accessible to the first device to determine a number of devices within a threshold distance to the second device as indicated in data accessed using the social networking service.

7. The first device of claim 1 , wherein the notification is provided at least in part by presenting a symbol on the display, the symbol being indicative of use of a speaker phone function.

8. A method, comprising:

determining whether a first device is facilitating a telephonic communication with a second device at least in part using a speaker phone feature;

in response to a determination that the first device is facilitating the telephonic communication at least in part using the speaker phone feature, transmitting data pertaining to the use of the speaker phone feature to the second device; and

presenting a user interface (UI) on a display accessible to the first device, the UI comprising an option that is selectable to enable presentation of notifications at the first device regarding use of a speaker phone feature by at least one other device while communicating with the first device.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the method comprises:

determining whether the first device is facilitating the telephonic communication with the second device at least in part using the speaker phone feature based at least in part on data from a camera on the first device.

10. The method of claim 8 , comprising:

determining a number of people proximate to the first device while the first device facilitates the telephonic communication at least in part based on receipt, at the first device, of at least one Bluetooth signal from at least a third device; and

transmitting data comprising information pertaining to the number of people to the second device.

11. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

determining a number of people within a threshold distance to the first device during at least one moment during facilitation of the telephonic communication, the threshold distance being established based at least in part on input to a user interface presented on a display; and

transmitting data comprising at least information pertaining to the number of people to the second device.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the method comprises:

determining that plural individuals are within a proximity to the first device at least in part using a sound transceiver to detect at least one echo of sound emitted by the sound transceiver; and

transmitting data pertaining to the plural individuals to the second device.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the method comprises:

determining that plural individuals are within a proximity to the first device at least in part by processing sound distortions in the proximity; and

transmitting data pertaining to the plural individuals to the second device.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the determining is based at least in part on an identification pertaining to how the first device is being held by a user.

15. A computer readable storage medium (CRSM) that is not a transitory signal, the computer readable storage medium comprising instructions executable by a processor of a first device to:

process data associated with a telephonic communication between the first device and a second device to determine whether the second device is using a speaker phone function;

in response to a determination that the second device is using the speaker phone function, provide a notification at the first device that the second device is using the speaker phone function; and

present a user interface (UI) on a display at which an option is selectable to enable presentation of data at the first device regarding use of a speaker phone by another device while communicating with the first device.

16. The CRSM of claim 15 , wherein the notification is provided at least in part using a speaker accessible to the processor to provide a voice notification.

17. The CRSM of claim 15 , wherein the instructions are executable by the processor to:

approximate a number of people within a proximity to the second device and provide in the notification an approximation of the number of people within the proximity to the second device, wherein the number of people is approximated at least in part using a social network service accessible to the first device to determine a number of devices within a threshold distance to the second device as indicated in data accessed using the social networking service.

18. The method of claim 14 , wherein the identification pertains to whether the first device is proximate to the user's face.

19. The CRSM of claim 15 , wherein the notification is provided at least in part using at least one speaker to provide a number of tones corresponding to a number of people determined to be proximate to the second device.

20. The CRSM of claim 15 , wherein the notification is provided at least in part using a display accessible to the processor to provide a text message.
