Abstract

Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion and a plurality of weight portions. The body portion may include a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a bottom portion having an outer surface associated with an outer surface curve, and a weight port region located at or proximate to the bottom portion. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

Claims (46)

1. A golf club head comprising:

a hollow body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a bottom portion, a rear portion, and a front portion having a face portion;

a first port region on the bottom portion and having a plurality of first ports, each port of the plurality of first ports having an opening on an outer surface of the bottom portion and extending from the opening into the hollow body portion;

a second port region on the bottom portion and having a plurality of second ports, each port of the plurality of second ports having an opening on the outer surface of the bottom portion and extending into the hollow body portion;

an elastic polymer material at least partially surrounding each port of the plurality of first ports and the plurality of second ports;

a first cavity portion at least 50% filled with the elastic polymer material;

a second cavity portion at least 50% filled with the elastic polymer material;

wherein each port of the plurality of first ports extends from the opening of the port on the outer surface of the bottom portion into the first cavity, and

wherein each port of the plurality of second ports extends from the opening of the port on the outer surface of the bottom portion into the second cavity.

2. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein each port of the plurality of first ports or each port of the plurality of second ports is fully surrounded by the elastic polymer material.

3. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the second cavity portion is separate from the first cavity portion.

4. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first port region is near the toe portion and the second port region is near the heel portion.

5. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first cavity portion or the second cavity portion is defined by an indentation in a portion of the bottom portion and a cover portion configured to cover the indentation.

6. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein at least one of the ports of the plurality of first ports is connected to the first cavity portion, wherein the first cavity portion is at least 50% filled with an elastic polymer material by injecting the elastic polymer material into the first cavity portion from the at least one port of the plurality of first ports.

7. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein at least one of the ports of the plurality of second ports is connected to the second cavity portion, and wherein the second cavity portion is at least 50% filled with an elastic polymer material by injecting the elastic polymer material into the second cavity portion from the at least one port of the plurality of second ports.

8. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first port region or the second port region includes a first portion extending between the front portion and the rear portion and a second portion extending between the toe portion and the heel portion.

9. A golf club head comprising:

a hollow body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a bottom portion, a rear portion, and a front portion having a face portion;

a first port region on the bottom portion and having a plurality of first ports, each port of the plurality of first ports having an opening on an outer surface of the bottom portion and extending from the opening into the hollow body portion;

a second port region on the bottom portion and having a plurality of second ports, each port of the plurality of second ports having an opening on the outer surface of the bottom portion and extending into the hollow body portion;

a plurality of weight portions, wherein each port of the plurality of first ports and the plurality of second ports is configured to receive a weight portion of the plurality of weight portions;

an elastic polymer material at least partially surrounding each port of the plurality of first ports and the plurality of second ports;

a first cavity portion at least 50% filled with the elastic polymer material;

a second cavity portion at least 50% filled with the elastic polymer material;

wherein each port of the plurality of first ports extends from the opening of the port on the outer surface of the bottom portion into the first cavity, and

wherein each port of the plurality of second ports extends from the opening of the port on the outer surface of the bottom portion into the second cavity.

10. A golf club head as defined in claim 9 , wherein each port of the plurality of first ports or each port of the plurality of second ports is fully surrounded by the elastic polymer material.

11. A golf club head as defined in claim 9 , wherein the first port region is near the toe portion and wherein the second port region is near the heel portion.

12. A golf club head as defined in claim 9 , wherein the first cavity portion or the second cavity portion is defined by an indentation in a portion of the bottom portion and a cover portion configured to cover the indentation.

13. A golf club head as defined in claim 9 , wherein at least one of the ports of the plurality of first ports is connected to the first cavity portion, wherein the first cavity portion is at least 50% filled with an elastic polymer material by injecting the elastic polymer material into the first cavity portion from the at least one port of the plurality of first ports.

14. A golf club head as defined in claim 9 , wherein at least one of the ports of the plurality of second ports is connected to the second cavity portion, and wherein the second cavity portion is at least 50% filled with an elastic polymer material by injecting the elastic polymer material into the second cavity portion from the at least one port of the plurality of second ports.

15. A golf club head as defined in claim 9 , wherein the first port region or the second port region includes a first portion extending between the front portion and the rear portion and a second portion extending between the toe portion and the heel portion.

16. A golf club head comprising:

a hollow body portion having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a bottom portion, a rear portion, and a front portion having a face portion;
