Implant with high vapor pressure medium
An implant delivery system can be configured to deliver an inflatable implant into a bladder via a urethra. The delivery system can comprise an elongate tubular body, an inflation tube and an implant decoupler. The tubular body can comprise a central lumen configured to hold an inflatable implant in an initial un-inflated state for delivery of the implant into the bladder. A method of use can include passing a distal tip of the elongate tubular body into the bladder. The implant can be inflated and released into the bladder.
1. An attenuation device for use in a human or animal bladder, comprising:
a flexible housing comprising a biodegradable component and an outer wall and defining a chamber therein, wherein the biodegradable component comprises a drug; and
at least one high vapor pressure medium within the chamber having a vapor pressure greater than the pressure in the bladder and a low permeability rate through the outer wall of less than 1 ml/day at body temperature, wherein when inflated, the flexible housing is configured to reside within the bladder.
2. A device as in claim 1 , wherein the biodegradable component comprises a film.
3. A device as in claim 1 , wherein the biodegradable component comprises at least one particle having a diameter in a range of 1 nm to 100 μm.
4. A device as in claim 1 , wherein the flexible housing comprises the biodegradable component.
5. A device as in claim 1 , wherein the biodegradable component is within the chamber.
6. A device as in claim 1 , wherein the biodegradable component further comprises a biodegradable polymer comprising at least one of an ester, an ether, and an amide.
7. A device as in claim 6 , wherein the biodegradable polymer comprises an ester.
8. A device as in claim 6 , wherein the biodegradable polymer comprises poly lactic acid, poly glycolic acid, or a mixture or copolymer thereof.
9. A device as in claim 1 , wherein the biodegradable component comprises a drug which is effective in the treatment of a condition affecting the bladder.
10. A method of treating a condition affecting a bladder comprising implanting an attenuation device into a bladder of human or animal body, said device comprising the device of claim 9 .
11. A method as in claim 10 , wherein the condition affecting the bladder comprises: urinary incontinence, urinary tract cancer, an infection affecting the bladder, or an inflammatory condition affecting the bladder.

A method as in claim 10 , wherein the drug comprises at least one of: a neurotoxin, acetaminophen, acetylsalicylic acid, cyclophosphamide, fentanyl citrate, antimuscarinic agents, atropine, Bacillus Calmette Guerin vaccine, botulinum toxin type A, calcium channel blockers, cisplatin, clenbuterol, codeine, cyproterone, darifenacin, desmopressin, diethylstilbestrol, dimethyl sulfoxide, doxorubicin, emepronium, estramustine, flavoxate, flufenisal, fluorouracil, flutamide, heparin, hyoscyamin, ibuprofen, imipramine, inaperisone, indomethacin, indoprofen, lanperisone, leuprolide, lidocaine hydrochloride, megestrol acetate, methotrexate, mitomycin, muscle relaxants, naproxen, NC-1800, norepinephrine uptake inhibitors, NS-21, oxybutynin, oxycodone, pentosanpolysulfate sodium, phenazopyridine hydrochloride, potassium channel openers, procaine hydrochloride, propantheline, propiverine, rociverine, salicyl alcohol, serotonin uptake inhibitors, S-oxybutynin, stilonium iodide, terodiline, tetracaine hydrochloride, thiotepa, tolterodine, trospium, vamicamide YM-46303, verapamil, vinblastine, ZD-6169, and β-2 agonists.
