Abstract

Systems and methods for controlling multiple shared displays in an electronic collaboration setting. In some embodiments, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include a processor and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory including program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the processor, cause the IHS to: identify a first characteristic of an electronic collaboration session, at least in part, using an image sensing device; identify a second characteristic associated with a given participant of the electronic collaboration session, at least in part, using a proximity sensing device; and control an attribute of a display used in the electronic collaboration session based upon a combination of the first and second characteristics.

Claims (30)

1. An Information Handling System (IHS), comprising:

one or more processors; and

a memory coupled to the one or more processors, the memory including program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the one or more processors, cause the IHS to:

identify a first characteristic of an electronic collaboration session, at least in part, using an image sensing device, wherein the electronic collaboration session uses a first screen of a horizontal display device and a second screen of a vertical display device;

identify a second characteristic associated with a given participant, at least in part, using a proximity sensing device; and

control an attribute of the horizontal display device based upon a combination of the first and second characteristics, wherein to control the attribute, the program instructions, upon execution, further cause the IHS to: determine that the given participant is closer to the horizontal display device than to the vertical display device, and decrease the attribute of the horizontal display device with respect to the vertical display device in response to the determination.

2. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein the image sensing device includes a three-dimensional (3D) camera or an Ambient Light Sensor (ALS).

The IHS of claim 1 , wherein the first characteristic is associated with the given participant and includes at least one of: a position of the given participant in three-dimensional space, an identity of the given participant, a size or reach of the given participant, a role of the given participant in the electronic collaboration session, a gesture made by the given participant, or an intent of the given participant.

4. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein the first characteristic includes an ambient light level.

5. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein the second characteristic includes a position of the given participant relative to another participant.

6. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein the attribute includes brightness.

7. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein the attribute includes contrast.

8. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein the attribute includes color intensity.

9. The IHS of claim 6 , wherein the display comprises an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display, and wherein controlling the brightness of the OLED display includes controlling an intensity of a blue color in only a portion of the OLED display smaller than the entire OLED display.

10. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein to control the attribute, the program instructions, upon execution, further cause the IHS to: determine that the given participant has moved from a first location to a second location, and adjust the attribute for the given participant at the second location.

11. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein to control the attribute, the program instructions, upon execution, further cause the IHS to: determine that the given participant has a speaker role in the electronic collaboration session, and adjust the attribute for the given participant.

12. The IHS of claim 11 , wherein the program instructions, upon execution, further cause the IHS to: determine that the given participant no longer has the speaker role in the electronic collaboration session, and adjust the attribute for another participant.

13. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein the proximity sensing device comprises a Radio Frequency (RF) antenna array configured to detect a Specific Absorption Rage (SAR) of the given participant.

14. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein the horizontal display device is part of a smart table shared by the plurality of participants.

15. The IHS of claim 13 , wherein the RF antenna array is configured to switch its operation between 60 GHz and 300 GHz during at least a portion of the electronic collaboration session.

16. The IHS of claim 13 , wherein the RF antenna array is configured to operate at 300 GHz during at least a portion of the electronic collaboration session.

17. The IHS of claim 1 , wherein to control the attribute, the program instructions, upon execution, further cause the IHS to: determine that the given participant is between the horizontal display device and the vertical display device facing the vertical display device, and decrease the attribute of the horizontal display device.

18. A method, comprising:

identify a first characteristic associated with a given one of a plurality of participants of an electronic collaboration session, at least in part, using an image sensing device, wherein the electronic collaboration session uses a first screen of a horizontal display device and a second screen of a vertical display device;

identify a second characteristic associated with the given participant, at least in part, using a proximity sensing device; and

control a characteristic of the horizontal display device based upon a combination of the first and second characteristics, wherein to control the characteristic, the program instructions, upon execution, further cause the IHS to: determine that the given participant is closer to the horizontal display device than to the vertical display device, and increase the characteristic of the horizontal display device with respect to the vertical display device in response to the determination.

19. A memory device having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by an Information Handling System (IHS), cause the IHS to:

identify a first characteristic associated with a given one of a plurality of participants of an electronic collaboration session, at least in part, using an image sensing device, wherein the electronic collaboration session uses a first screen of a horizontal display device and a second screen of a vertical display device;

identify a second characteristic associated with the given participant, at least in part, using a proximity sensing device; and

control a characteristic of the horizontal display device based upon a combination of the first and second characteristics, wherein to control the characteristic, the program instructions, upon execution, further cause the IHS to: determine that the given participant is between the horizontal display device and the vertical display device facing the vertical display device, and decrease the characteristic of the horizontal display device.
