Abstract

A system and associated method for manipulating tissues and anatomical or other structures in medical applications for the purpose of treating diseases or disorders or other purposes. In one aspect, the system includes a delivery device and a plurality of anchor assemblies. The delivery system is configured to deliver a first anchor using loaded energy and reload the energy required to deliver an addition anchor.

Claims (14)

1. A handle apparatus for an anchor delivery system, comprising

a lever connected to a cam wheel through a drive gear having a plurality of drive gear teeth, wherein the lever has a first lever position and moving the lever from the first lever position causes the cam wheel to rotate, and when the lever is moved through its full range of motion the lever is able to return to the first lever position without causing the cam wheel to rotate;

a first sled in a first sled position and engaged with the cam wheel, wherein rotation of the cam wheel moves the first sled from the first sled position; and

a first spring connected to the first sled, wherein movement of the first sled caused by rotation of the cam wheel loads energy into the first spring.

2. The handle of claim 1 , wherein rotation of the cam wheel accomplishes releasing the energy loaded into the first spring by allowing the first sled to return rapidly to the first sled position.

3. The handle of claim 1 , further comprising a second spring connected to a second sled, wherein rotation of the cam wheel loads energy into the second spring.

4. The handle of claim 3 , wherein the second sled is configured to be placed in a locked position when energy has been loaded into the second spring.

5. The handle of claim 4 , wherein rotation of the cam wheel releases the second sled from the locked position causing the second sled to return rapidly to a second sled position.

6. The handle of claim 3 , wherein the handle is configured to couple with a cartridge of the anchor delivery system and wherein the second sled includes a complementary mechanism for transferring energy from the second sled to the cartridge.

7. The handle of claim 1 , wherein the lever includes lever teeth that mesh with the plurality of drive gear teeth.

8. The handle of claim 1 , further comprising a safety having a position that prevents operation of the handle.

9. The handle of claim 1 , wherein the handle is configured to couple with a cartridge of the anchor delivery system.

10. The handle of claim 9 , wherein the first sled includes a complementary mechanism for transferring energy from the first sled to the cartridge.

11. The handle of claim 10 , wherein transferring energy from the first sled to the cartridge causes a needle to be deployed from the cartridge.
