Abstract

An implantable pulse generator (IPG) that generates spinal cord stimulation signals for a human body has a programmable signal generator that can generate the signals based on stored signal parameters without any intervention from a processor that controls the overall operation of the IPG. While the signal generator is generating the signals the processor can be in a standby mode to substantially save battery power.

Claims (19)

1. A spinal cord stimulation system comprising:

an implantable pulse generator;

a plurality of electrodes for delivering electrical pulses to a patient;

a plurality of leads connecting the plurality of electrodes to the implantable pulse generator;

an anchor for maintaining at least one of the plurality of leads in a desired position within the patient, wherein the anchor includes a sleeve; and

a locking block configured to be received into the sleeve

wherein the locking block includes a blocking screw and a locking screw, wherein the locking screw includes a cam portion to impinge at least one of the plurality of lead in a locked position and is further configured to engage the blocking screw in an unlocked position.

2. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 1 , wherein the anchor comprises a center lumen for receiving at least one of the plurality of leads therein.

3. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 1 , wherein the locking block comprises a locking screw for engaging at least one of the plurality of leads therein.

4. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 3 , wherein the locking screw comprises a threaded portion and a cam portion.

5. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 1 , wherein the locking block comprises a locking screw and a blocking screw.

6. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 5 , wherein the locking screw comprises a threaded portion and a cam portion.

7. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 1 , wherein the anchor comprises one or more eyelets for receiving a suture therein.

8. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 7 , wherein the anchor comprises one or more suture surfaces for engaging a suture.

9. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 1 , wherein the anchor is configured to receive a multi-lumen lead.

10. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 1 , wherein the locking block includes a blocking screw and a locking screw, wherein the locking screw includes a cam portion to impinge at least one of the plurality of lead in a locked position and further configured to engage the blocking screw in an unlocked position.

11. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 10 , wherein the locking screw includes an upper threaded portion and is configured to be downwardly threaded into a threaded receiver of the anchor.

12. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 11 , wherein the blocking screw is configured to prevent back out of the locking screw from the threaded receiver.

13. The spinal cord stimulation system of claim 12 , wherein the cam portion engages the blocking screw when rotated approximately 180 degrees relative to the locked position.
