Abstract

An automatic bicycle pedal, including a pedal body rotationally connected to a spindle suitable to be coupled to a pedal crank, said pedal body having a front-rear direction (A) and including a front portion and a rear portion which are engageable by a cleat, said cleat being connectable to the sole of a rider's shoe and including a front hook and a rear hook; the front portion includes flexible engagement means for said front hook of said cleat.

Claims (3)

1. An automatic bicycle pedal, comprising a pedal body made of polymeric material rotationally connected to a spindle, said pedal body having a front-rear direction (A) and comprising a front portion and a rear portion which are engageable by a cleat, said cleat comprising a front hook and a rear hook, said front portion comprising a first flexible leg and a second flexible leg separated by a gap, said gap defining an area and having a width, and the gap being arranged along said front-rear direction said front hook of said cleat being engageable in said first flexible leg and second flexible leg, wherein said rear portion comprises an appendix which is not movable with respect to said rear portion, the appendix including a rear edge engageable by the rear hook of the cleat, and in that said first flexible leg and said second flexible leg have a cross section that is taller than wide and that is substantially L-shaped at least around the gap area, the width of said gap being suitable to ensure engagement of said front hook of the cleat, and disengagement of the front hook of the cleat from said pedal body, said rear portion comprises a latch member which is selectively slidable within a respective seat along said front-rear direction (A), a screw engaged within said latch member, said screw being retained by a ring, said ring being screwed onto a nut which is one-piece with said rear portion of said pedal body, and a spring, said spring holding said screw against said ring.

2. The pedal according to claim 1 , wherein said latch member comprises an external surface having a ramp profile suitable to engage a respective groove of said rear hook of said cleat.

3. The pedal according to claim 1 , wherein said rear portion comprises a rear edge defining a first angled surface.
