N,N-BIS-2-MERCAPTOETHYL ISOPHTHALAMIDE FOR THE TREATMENT OF NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES
According to the invention there is provided N,N-bis-2-mercaptoethyl isophthalamide, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or derivative thereof, for use in the therapeutic treatment of a neurodegenerative disorder, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease and/or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

3 . A method of treatment of a neurodegenerative disorder, which method comprises the administration of N,N-bis-2-mercaptoethyl isophthalamide, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or derivative thereof, to a patient in need of such treatment.
4 . A method of relieving one or more symptom of a neurodegenerative disorder in a patient suffering therefrom, which method comprise administering N,N-bis-2-mercaptoethyl isophthalamide, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or derivative thereof, to such a patient.
5 . The method as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the neurodegenerative disorder is Alzheimer's disease.
6 . The method as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the patient is also receiving therapy which comprises administration of an active ingredient selected from a cholinesterase inhibitor or a NMDA receptor antagonist.
7 . The method as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the neurodegenerative disorder is Parkinson's disease.
8 . The method as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the patient is also receiving therapy which comprises administration of an active ingredient selected from levodopa (optionally along with a dopamine decarboxylase inhibitor), a dopamine agonist, a MAO-B inhibitor, amantadine or an anticholinergic compound.
9 . The method as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the neurodegenerative disorder is Huntington's disease.
10 . The method as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the patient is also receiving therapy which comprises administration of an active ingredient selected from tetrabenazine, amantadine or remacemide.
11 . The method as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the neurodegenerative disorder is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
12 . The method as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the patient is also receiving therapy which comprises administration of riluzole.
13 . The method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the neurodegenerative disorder is Alzheimer's disease.
14 . The method as claimed in claim 13 , wherein the patient is also receiving therapy which comprises administration of an active ingredient selected from a cholinesterase inhibitor or a NMDA receptor antagonist.
15 . The method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the neurodegenerative disorder is Parkinson's disease.
16 . The method as claimed in claim 15 , wherein the patient is also receiving therapy which comprises administration of an active ingredient selected from levodopa (optionally along with a dopamine decarboxylase inhibitor), a dopamine agonist, a MAO-B inhibitor, amantadine or an anticholinergic compound.
17 . The method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the neurodegenerative disorder is Huntington's disease.
18 . The method as claimed in claim 17 , wherein the patient is also receiving therapy which comprises administration of an active ingredient selected from tetrabenazine, amantadine or remacemide.
19 . The method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the neurodegenerative disorder is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
20 . The method as claimed in claim 19 , wherein the patient is also receiving therapy which comprises administration of riluzole.
