Abstract

A wireless power reception device and a wireless communication method thereby are provided. The wireless communication method by the wireless power reception device may comprise the steps of: receiving a wireless power signal from a wireless power transmission device; measuring the strength of the wireless power signal; modulating the amplitude of the wireless power signal according to the measured strength of the wireless power signal; and performing communication with the wireless power transmission device by using the signal having the amplitude modulated.

Claims (20)

1. A wireless communication method by a wireless power reception device, the wireless communication method comprising:

receiving a wireless power signal from a wireless power transmission device;

measuring a strength of the wireless power signal; and

performing communication with the wireless power transmission device by modulating an amplitude of the wireless power signal in a modulator included in the wireless power reception device, wherein the modulator includes at least one transistor that is selectively enabled based, at least in part, on whether the strength of the wireless power signal is above a predetermined threshold.

2. The wireless communication method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one transistor is any one of a metal oxide silicon field effect transistor (MOSFET) and a bipolar junction transistor (BJT).

3. The wireless communication method of claim 1 , wherein the modulator is configured in a direct current (DC) terminal of the wireless power reception device.

4. The wireless communication method of claim 1 , wherein the modulator is configured in an alternating current (AC) terminal of the wireless power reception device.

5. The wireless communication method of claim 1 , wherein the modulator includes two or more transistors and two or more resistors.

6. A wireless power reception device comprising:

at least one secondary core receiving a wireless power signal transmitted from a wireless power transmission device;

a rectifier rectifying the received wireless power signal;

a detection circuit measuring a strength of the wireless power signal by monitoring an output of the rectifier; and

a controller controlling communication with the wireless power transmission device using a modulator to modulate an amplitude of the wireless power signal, wherein the modulator includes at least one transistor that is selectively enabled based, at least in part, on whether the strength of the wireless power signal is above a predetermined threshold.

7. The wireless power reception device of claim 6 , wherein the at least one transistor is any one of a metal oxide silicon field effect transistor (MOSFET) and a bipolar junction transistor (BJT).

8. The wireless power reception device of claim 6 , wherein the modulator is configured in a direct current (DC) terminal of the wireless power reception device.

9. The wireless power reception device of claim 6 , wherein the modulator is configured in an alternating current (AC) terminal of the wireless power reception device.

10. The wireless power reception device of claim 6 , wherein the modulator includes two or more transistors and two or more resistors.

11. The wireless communication method of claim 1 , wherein the modulator includes at least a first modulation module and a second modulation module, the wireless communication method further comprising:

selectively enabling one of the first modulation module or the second modulation module based, at least in part, on whether the strength of the wireless power signal is above or below the predetermined threshold.

12. The wireless communication method of claim 11 , wherein the second modulation module is enabled when the strength of the wireless power signal is above the predetermined threshold, the second modulation module including the at least one transistor.
