Abstract

The present invention relates to the use of nitrogenous compounds of formula (I) and/or corresponding quaternized and/or protonated compounds for production of polyurethanes, to compositions comprising said compounds and also to polyurethane systems, in particular polyurethane foams, obtained using said compounds.

Claims (24)

1. A polyurethane composition comprising a reaction product of a polyisocyanate, a polyol, and a nitrogenous compound,

wherein the nitrogenous compound is formula (I)

with

R 1 and R 2 being the same or different and each independently being hydrogen or an organic moiety of 1 to 30 carbon atoms,

with R 3 being H or an organic moiety of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, which may be interrupted by one or more heteroatoms, wherein an amount of the nitrogenous compounds of formulae (I), is a mass fraction of 0.01 to 20.0 parts (pphp) based on 100 parts (pphp) of the polyol.

2. The polyurethane composition according to claim 1 , wherein R 1 and R 2 are hydrogen,

wherein the nitrogenous compound of formula (I) comprises a compound conforming to formula (II)

3. The polyurethane composition according to claim 1 , wherein formula (I) is selected from the group consisting of formula (III), (IV), (V), (VI) or (VII)

4. The polyurethane composition according to claim 3 , wherein production of a polyurethane comprises preparing a polyurethane composition including at least one nitrogenous compound of formulae (III), (IV), (V), (VI) or (VII), blowing agent, and reacting this composition.

5. The polyurethane composition according to claim 3 , wherein the at least one nitrogenous compound of formulae (III), (IV), (V), (VI) or (VII), in combination with at least one solvent, wherein the mass ratio of total catalyst used to solvent is in the range from 100:1 to 1:4.

6. The polyurethane composition comprising at least one nitrogenous compound of formulae (III), (IV), (V), (VI) or (VII) of claim 3 , wherein the composition comprises at least one isocyanate component, and wherein the composition comprises additional amine catalysts not conforming to formulae (I), (III), (IV), (V), (VI) or (VII).

7. The polyurethane composition according to claim 1 , wherein polyurethane composition is a rigid polyurethane foam, a flexible polyurethane foam, a viscoelastic foam, a cold-cure foam (also called high-resilience (HR) foam), a semi-rigid polyurethane foam, a thermoformable polyurethane foam or an integral foam.

8. A product comprising the polyurethane composition according to claim 7 wherein the product is selected from the group consisting of refrigerator insulation, insulation panel, sandwich element, pipe insulation, spray foam, 1- and 1.5-component can foam, wood imitation, modelling foam, floral foam, packaging foam, mattress, furniture cushioning, furniture molding foam, pillows, rebonded foam, sponge foam, automotive seat cushioning, headrest, dashboard, automotive interior, automotive roof liner, sound absorption material, steering wheel, shoe sole, carpet backing foam, filter foam, sealant, sealant foam and adhesive.

9. The polyurethane composition according to claim 2 , wherein polyurethane composition is a rigid polyurethane foam, a flexible polyurethane foam, a viscoelastic foam, a cold-cure foam (also called high-resilience (HR) foam), a semi-rigid polyurethane foam, a thermoformable polyurethane foam or an integral foam.

10. The polyurethane composition according to claim 3 , wherein polyurethane composition is a rigid polyurethane foam, a flexible polyurethane foam, a viscoelastic foam, a cold-cure foam (also called high-resilience (HR) foam), a semi-rigid polyurethane foam, a thermoformable polyurethane foam or an integral foam.

11. The polyurethane composition according to claim 4 , wherein polyurethane composition is a rigid polyurethane foam, a flexible polyurethane foam, a viscoelastic foam, a cold-cure foam (also called high-resilience (HR) foam), a semi-rigid polyurethane foam, a thermoformable polyurethane foam or an integral foam.

12. The polyurethane composition according to claim 5 , wherein polyurethane composition is a rigid polyurethane foam, a flexible polyurethane foam, a viscoelastic foam, a cold-cure foam (also called high-resilience (HR) foam), a semi-rigid polyurethane foam, a thermoformable polyurethane foam or an integral foam.

13. The polyurethane composition according to claim 6 , wherein polyurethane composition is a rigid polyurethane foam, a flexible polyurethane foam, a viscoelastic foam, a cold-cure foam (also called high-resilience (HR) foam), a semi-rigid polyurethane foam, a thermoformable polyurethane foam or an integral foam.

14. The product according to claim 8 wherein the product is packaging foam.

15. The product according to claim 8 wherein the product is selected from the group consisting of refrigerator insulation and pipe insulation.

16. The product according to claim 8 wherein the product is a foam selected from the group consisting of rigid polyurethane foam, a flexible polyurethane foam, a viscoelastic foam, a semi-rigid polyurethane foam, and a thermoformable polyurethane foam.
