Abstract

Provided are methods and compositions for the prevention and/or treatment of viral conditions, virally-induced conditions and inflammatory conditions. The methods can comprise administering to a subject a viral inducing agent with an antiviral agent, and optionally an additional agent. The viral inducing agent can be a HDAC inhibitor administered orally.

Claims (20)

. A method for treating and/or preventing a viral or virally-induced condition comprising administering a HDAC inhibitor and an antiviral agent wherein the viral or virally-induced condition is caused by a DNA virus and the HDAC inhibitor is administered at dose of less than 2 mg/kg per dose.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the HDAC inhibitor is CHR-3996.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the DNA virus is a herpesvirus.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the DNA virus is an Epstein-Barr virus.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the DNA virus is a cytomegalovirus.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the DNA virus is a varicella zoster virus.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the virally-induced condition is a lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, gastric cancer, Kaposi's sarcoma, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, or multiple sclerosis.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the antiviral agent is acyclovir (ACV), ganciclovir (GCV), valganciclovir, famciclovir, foscarnet, ribavirin, zalcitabine (ddC), zidovudine (AZT), stavudine (D4T), lamivudine (3TC), didanosine (ddI), cytarabine, dideoxyadenosine, edoxudine, floxuridine, idozuridine, inosine pranobex, 2′-deoxy-5-(methylamino)uridine, trifluridine and vidarabine.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the antiviral agent is ganciclovir (GCV).

. A method for treating and/or preventing a viral or virally-induced condition comprising administering a HDAC inhibitor and an antiviral agent wherein the viral or virally-induced condition is caused by a retrovirus and the HDAC inhibitor is administered at dose of less than 2 mg/kg per dose.

. The method of claim 10 , wherein the HDAC inhibitor is CHR-3996.

. The method of claim 10 , wherein the retrovirus is HIV, HTLV1 or HTLV2.

. The method of claim 10 , wherein the retrovirus is HIV.

. A composition comprising a (i) HDAC inhibitor and (ii) an antiviral agent.

. The composition of claim 14 , wherein the HDAC inhibitor is CHR-3996.

. The composition of claim 14 , wherein the antiviral a herpesvirus antiviral.

. The composition of claim 14 , wherein the antiviral agent is an anti-HIV antiviral.

. The composition of claim 14 , wherein the antiviral agent is acyclovir (ACV), ganciclovir (GCV), valganciclovir, famciclovir, foscarnet, ribavirin, zalcitabine (ddC), zidovudine (AZT), stavudine (D4T), lamivudine (3TC), didanosine (ddI), cytarabine, dideoxyadenosine, edoxudine, floxuridine, idozuridine, inosine pranobex, 2′-deoxy-5-(methylamino)uridine, trifluridine and vidarabine.

. The composition of claim 14 , wherein the antiviral agent is ganciclovir (GCV).

. The composition of claim 14 , formulated for oral administration.
