INFANT CALMING/SLEEP-AID, SIDS PREVENTION DEVICE, AND METHOD OF USE
A sleep-aid device is provided that includes a main moving platform that moves in a variable manner with accompanying variable sound generation, the sound and motion under the control of a control system and adapted to calm a fussy baby, induce sleep, and maintain sleep under normal conditions. The device may also include a sleep sack for an infant, which is removably attachable to the sleep-aid device and comprises a crib attachment mechanism in data communication with the control system.

3 . A sleep system comprising:
an infant sleep-aid device comprising a crib device with a movable platform for supporting an infant and a control system that controls a motion of the platform; and
a sleep sack for the infant which is removably attachable to the crib device and comprises a crib attachment mechanism in data communication with the control system to detect when the sleep sack is not securely fastened to the crib device,
wherein motion of the platform is discontinued if the sleep sack is not securely fastened to the crib device.
4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the sleep sack comprises at least one of a hip flexion mechanism, an internal band, adjustable hand openings, a zipper, or an adjustable back snuggling mechanism.
5 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the crib attachment mechanism comprises a contact switch.
6 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the crib attachment mechanism comprises an optical switch.
7 . The system of claim 3 , further comprising at least one speaker wherein the control system controls both a motion of the platform and causes the at least one speaker to emit a sound directed to the infant.
8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein sound emitted by the speakers on response to the control system is unaffected by whether the sleep sack is securely fastened to the crib device.
9 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the sleep sack comprises sleep sack wings removably attachable to the crib device.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the sleep sack wings comprises integral clips.
11 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the sleep sack comprises fastening straps with attachment clips.
12 . The system of claim 3 , wherein a lower portion of the sleep sack is wider than an upper portion.
13 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the sleep sack further includes a zipper extending from a neck opening of the sleep sack towards the bottom of the sack.
14 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the sleep sack further includes interior bands or sleeves for constraining the arms of the infant.
15 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the sleep sack further includes arm openings.
16 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the sleep sack further includes arm restraints on the exterior of the sleep sack.
17 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the sleep sack further includes a mesh component allowing air flow between the interior and exterior of the sleep sack.
18 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the sleep sack further includes an adjustable area on the back for adjusting the fit of the sleep sack.
