Abstract

A physiological data collection device obtains physiological data from a subject interface on a subject. The physiological data collection device includes a data connector such as a USB connector for connecting directly to a computer. When the physiological data collection device is connected to the computer, the physiological data is uploaded to a remote data processing center for computer-based analysis and review by a medical professional. A report can be provided to the subject based on the analysis and review. When the subject interface is physically connected to the physiological data collection device, the data connector is prevented from being connected to an external device such as the computer.

Claims (28)

1. An electrocardiogram (ECG) interface comprising:

a first electrode lead and a second electrode lead, each having a first end and a second end;

a first lead socket and a second lead socket mechanically and electrically connected to the first ends of the first and second electrode leads, respectively, wherein each of the first and second lead sockets is configured to connect to an ECG electrode; and

a connector head mechanically and electrically connected to the second ends of the first and second electrode leads, the connector head comprising a connector receptacle configured to receive a male USB connector;

wherein the first electrode lead and the second electrode lead are each independently adjustable relative to the connector head to independently connect the first lead socket to a first ECG electrode and the second lead socket to a second ECG electrode.

2. The ECG interface of claim 1 , wherein the connector head comprises a plurality of electrical contacts in electrical communication with the first and second electrode leads.

3. The ECG interface of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of electrical contacts includes five electrical contacts.

4. The ECG interface of claim 2 , wherein a first contact of the plurality of electrical contacts is in electrical communication with the first electrode lead.

5. The ECG interface of claim 4 , wherein a second contact of the plurality of electrical contacts is in electrical communication with the second electrode lead.

6. The ECG interface of claim 5 , wherein the ECG interface includes a power source.

7. The ECG interface of claim 2 , wherein the connector head comprises an engagement mechanism for supporting a weight of a portable ECG data collection unit.

8. The ECG interface of claim 7 , wherein the engagement mechanism comprises a clip.

9. The ECG interface of claim 8 , wherein the engagement mechanism comprises a tab which, when pressed, disengages the clip from the data collection unit.

10. The ECG interface of claim 9 , wherein the ECG interface further comprises a lanyard connected to the connector head.

11. The ECG interface of claim 10 , wherein the connector head comprises a male electrode connector.

12. The ECG interface of claim 11 , wherein the male electrode connector comprises the plurality of electrical contacts.

13. A lead-wire set comprising an electrode lead having a first end and a second end, the first end terminating in a socket for connecting to an ECG electrode, and the second end terminating in a connector head having a connector receptacle configured to receive a male USB connector, wherein the first end of the electrode lead is independently adjustable relative to the connector head to connect the socket to the ECG electrode.

14. The lead-wire set of claim 13 , wherein the connector head comprises at least one electrical contact in electrical communication with the electrode lead.

15. The lead-wire set of claim 14 , wherein the connector head comprises five electrical contacts.

16. The lead-wire set of claim 14 , wherein the ECG interface includes a power source.

17. The lead-wire set of claim 14 , wherein the connector head comprises an engagement mechanism for supporting a weight of a portable ECG data collection unit.

18. The lead-wire set of claim 17 , wherein the engagement mechanism comprises a clip.

19. The lead-wire set of claim 18 , wherein the engagement mechanism comprises a tab which, when pressed, disengages the clip from the ECG data collection unit.

20. The ECG interface of claim 19 , wherein the connector head comprises a male electrode connector.

21. The ECG interface of claim 1 , wherein the ECG interface does not include computer-readable memory.

22. The ECG interface of claim 1 , wherein the ECG interface does not include isolation circuitry.

23. The ECG interface of claim 1 , wherein the ECG interface does not include a processor.

24. The ECG interface of claim 13 , wherein the ECG interface does not include computer-readable memory.
