Abstract

An electronic device according to various embodiments of the present disclosure includes a power supply configured to supply DC power, a controller configured to determine a wireless power transmission mode or a wireless power reception mode if at least one electronic device is detected, and output a control signal indicating a wireless power transmission frequency supported by the detected electronic device from among a plurality of wireless power transmission frequencies if the wireless power transmission mode is determined, a conversion circuit configured to output the DC power supplied from the power supply as AC power in response to the control signal output from the controller and a wireless power transceiver configured to transmit the AC power supplied.

Claims (65)

1. An electronic device comprising:

wireless power antenna circuitry;

a power supply configured to supply direct current (DC) power;

a conversion circuit;

a communication unit; and

a controller configured to:

receive, through the communication unit, a signal from an external electronic device;

identify a wireless power scheme based on a type of the received signal, the wireless power scheme comprising one from among a first wireless power scheme and a second wireless power scheme;

select one from among a transmission mode and a reception mode based on the received signal; and

identify a wireless power frequency corresponding to the wireless power scheme,

wherein the wireless power antenna circuitry comprises:

first wireless power antenna circuitry corresponding to the first wireless power scheme and connected to the conversion circuit, and

second wireless power antenna circuitry corresponding to the second wireless power scheme and connected to the conversion circuit,

wherein the first wireless power antenna circuitry is electrically connected in parallel to the second wireless power antenna circuitry, and

wherein the controller, in response to the transmission mode being selected, is further configured to:

control the conversion circuit to convert the DC power to alternating current (AC) power using the wireless power frequency, and

transmit, through the wireless power antenna circuitry, the AC power to the external electronic device,

wherein the first wireless power antenna circuitry is electrically connected between a first connection point and a second connection point of the conversion circuit, and

the second wireless power antenna circuitry is electrically connected to the first connection point via a first capacitor and to the second connection point via a second capacitor.

2. The electronic device of claim 1 , further comprising a transmission/reception switch configured to:

switch a connection path of the conversion circuit to the power supply or a charging circuit depending on whether the transmission mode or the reception mode has been selected by the controller.

3. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the controller, in response to the reception mode being selected, is further configured to control the conversion circuit to convert the AC power received through the wireless power antenna circuitry into the DC power, in the reception mode.

4. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the first wireless power scheme and the second wireless power scheme are different from each other and comprise at least one from among a resonance scheme, an induction scheme, and a radio wave radiation scheme, and

the wireless power frequency comprises at least one from among a frequency corresponding to the resonance scheme, a frequency corresponding to the induction scheme, and a frequency corresponding to the radio wave radiation scheme.

5. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the conversion circuit is implemented with a full-bridge field-effect transistor (FET) circuit configured using four metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs).

6. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the conversion circuit is implemented with a circuit comprising two MOSFETs and two diodes.

7. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the wireless power antenna circuitry comprises a plurality of coils each corresponding to a frequency of a plurality of wireless power frequencies.

8. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the first wireless power antenna circuitry is configured to transmit and receive wireless power corresponding to a frequency of an induction scheme being the first wireless power scheme, and

the second wireless power antenna circuitry is configured to transmit and receive wireless power corresponding to a frequency of a resonance scheme being the second wireless power scheme.

9. The electronic device of claim 8 , wherein

each of the first wireless power antenna circuitry and the second wireless power antenna circuitry comprises a coil and at least one third capacitor.

The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to select the one from among the transmission mode and the reception mode based on at least one from among a load change due to the external electronic device, an in-band signal of the wireless power antenna circuitry, and an out-band signal of the communication unit.

11. A method for wireless charging in an electronic device, the method comprising:

receiving, through a communication unit of the electronic device, a signal from an external electronic device;

identifying, by a controller of the electronic device, a wireless power scheme based on a type of the received signal, the wireless power scheme comprising one from among a first wireless power scheme and a second wireless power scheme;

selecting, by the controller, one from among a transmission mode and a reception mode based on the received signal; and

identifying, by the controller, a wireless power frequency corresponding to the wireless power scheme,

wherein, in response to the transmission mode being selected, the method further comprises:

converting, through a conversion circuit of the electronic device, direct current (DC) power to alternating current (AC) power using the identified wireless power frequency; and

transmitting, through a wireless power antenna circuitry, the AC power to the external electronic device,

wherein the wireless power antenna circuitry includes:

first wireless power antenna circuitry corresponding to the first wireless power scheme and connected to the conversion circuit, and

second wireless power antenna circuitry corresponding to the second wireless power scheme and connected to the conversion circuit, and

wherein the first wireless power antenna circuitry is electrically connected in parallel to the second wireless power antenna circuitry,

wherein the first wireless power antenna circuitry is electrically connected between a first connection point and a second connection point of the conversion circuit, and

the second wireless power antenna circuitry is electrically connected to the first connection point via a first capacitor and to the second connection point via a second capacitor.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

detecting the AC power applied to a coil of the electronic device; and

detecting a load change in the external electronic device from the detected AC power.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the selecting the one from among the transmission mode and the reception mode comprises:

selecting the reception mode based on the detecting that the load change satisfies a preset condition.

14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising:

in the reception mode, converting the AC power applied to the coil to the DC power; and

charging a battery with the DC power.

15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first wireless power scheme and the second wireless power scheme are different from each other and comprise at least one from among a resonance scheme, an induction scheme, and a radio wave radiation scheme, and

the wireless power frequency comprises at least one from among a frequency corresponding to the resonance scheme, a frequency corresponding to the induction scheme, and a frequency corresponding to the radio wave radiation scheme.

16. The method of claim 11 , wherein the identifying the wireless power frequency comprises using one of in-band communication between the electronic device and the external electronic device or out-of-band communication between the electronic device and the external electronic device.

17. The method of claim 11 , wherein the identifying the wireless power frequency comprises:

identifying the wireless power frequency using in-band communication by a coil for transmitting and receiving wireless power; and

identifying the wireless power frequency using out-of-band communication when the wireless power frequency is not identified through the in-band communication.

18. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first wireless power scheme and the second wireless power scheme are different from each other and comprise an induction scheme and a resonance scheme, and

the identifying the wireless power frequency comprises one of communicating according to a communication protocol of the induction scheme and communicating according to a communication protocol of the resonance scheme.

19. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first wireless power scheme and the second wireless power scheme are different from each other and comprise an induction scheme and a resonance scheme, and

the identifying the wireless power frequency comprises simultaneously communicating according to a communication protocol of the induction scheme and according to a communication protocol of the resonance scheme.

The method of claim 11 , wherein the selecting the one from among the transmission mode and the reception mode comprises using at least one from among a load change in the external electronic device, an in-band signal of the wireless power antenna circuitry of the electronic device, and an out-band signal of the communication unit of the electronic device.
